                            Bryson's POV

"Man stop being a little girl and lighten up," Enrique shouted at me before he downed another shot.

My only concern was getting back to Courtney, I had a feeling that something was wrong since she wasn't answering her phone. After the baby shower, Enrique practically forced us to come out with him. He claimed that this was his way of celebrating me becoming a father. I felt like something was off but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I was about to call an uber for us, but Enrique protested and become more aggressive. Gabriel was getting pissed off because he wanted to go home since it was getting late, and we had work to do in the morning.

"Man come on, we already celebrated earlier today. We want to go home now." I snapped at Enrique while gathering my belongings.

He rolled his eyes at me then went to close out his tab. After he paid, we piled into his truck and anxiously watched him soar through the streets. My gut was telling me that he was up to something by the way he remained eerily calm. Enrique used to be affiliated with another gang when we lived a couple of blocks away from each other. Our gangs had an alliance, so that's how I got close to him and Gabriel. I witnessed Enrique do some gruesome things when we were younger so I didn't trust him.

We continued to ride in silence while I texted Courtney. She still wasn't answering any of my messages, and my sister wasn't replying either. My gut was telling me to get home fast so I could check on them, I regretted leaving her side in the first place. I was so engrossed in my phone that I failed to notice Enquire driving past our exit. I knew that this was no mistake, it was like he already scoped out the area and planned this.

"Enrique I'm not fucking around with you. Take me back to my girlfriend now." I shouted, causing him to slightly flinch.

Enrique just laughed and brushed me off. I was about to take his head off when we got out of this truck. He randomly made a turn down a dark ally and we pulled up to an abandoned building that looked like an old factory. I knew deep in my gut that this was a setup and I wasn't sure who to trust. Suddenly three men came out from behind us and surrounded the truck. Enrique hopped out and told the guys something in Spanish, they nodded their heads and pulled out guns.

"Fuck I knew he still hasn't changed. Bryson once again, I had nothing to do with this man. I took your advice and advised him to take the offer. I didn't think he would actually betray us and take the money." Gabriel frantically stated while looking at the men outside with wide eyes.

"What the fuck is going on? You guys need to fill me in because it looks like we aren't getting out of this." Davion asked in an irritated tone.

Gabriel filled him in about the deal that Jeremy and Faith offered him, he also told him about Enrique betraying us. Little did I know, Enrique was never on our side. Now I believed what Gabriel said about being innocent, it was his cousin trying to set me up this whole time. When we were younger our gangs had an alliance so we did deals together and split the money.

One day these men from the cartel offered us money in exchange for running products for them. Gabriel and I were reluctant, but Enrique talked us into doing it with him. Long story short, one of the guys from his gang told me the location of the drop, and when I arrived my rival gang was waiting outside for me. Luckily they didn't notice me coming since I came around the back entrance. That incident was the eye-opener I needed to change my life around. I had so much potential and I was wasting it on dealing drugs and engaging in violence.

For the longest time I blamed Gabriel for setting me up, but it was actually Enrique that wanted to eliminate me so he could keep the money and have fewer witnesses to his crimes. I was stupid to believe that this was all behind us now, Gabriel and I changed but Enrique was still affiliated with gang activities. My brother was also affiliated with my old gang but he left when our neighbor offered to put him through flight school.
