A Pure Smile

Missandei was braiding Daenerys hair, like she did every morning, but this time she could easily tell that something was different. Ever since they came to Winterfell, Dany was less talkative, always consumed in her thoughts and, even if she probably thought that Missandei did not notice, sad. Yet today.. It was complete opposite. She was laughing, smiling, and for the first time since they came here, she was the one that brought up many conversation topics, so Missandei did not have to force it upon her. Finally, her curiosity took over.,
"Daenerys, what happened yesterday? Forgive me, but I thought that after yesterday's conversation you will be feeling even more.. down." Missandei asked, to which Daenerys smiled sheepishly, clearly noticing how she was acting, and feeling embarassed cause of that.
"Let's just say that.. we explained some things to each other, and those two girls turn out to not be as bad as I thought." Dany said, knowing that this was a big understatement. That conversation showed how little she needed to feel better here, and she was grateful to Stark sisters for the way they acted.
"And do you mind sparing some details?" Missandei asked in a joking manner, but Daenerys shook her head.
"It's not really important. But I feel like things will be getting better now, at least some of them." She said, and stood up after Missandei finished her work. She looked at herself in the mirror, and turned to her friend
"Let's go, the breakfast should be starting now, and for the first time in a long time I actually feel hungry" she said with a smile, to which Missandei simply nodded, and returned the smile. She didn't need to know the details, she was happy to see her queen finally getting some peace of mind.

Jon was sitting in the great hall, enjoying breakfast with his sisters, when the doors suddenly opened, and through them came Tyrion with his brother Jaimie, who looked like he just got off the horse. All hall went silent, and the whispers started to grow throughout the tables. Jon only sighed. There was nothing those two could do for northeners to act different towards them. In their eyes they were Lannisters, the same Lannisters who were the reason of their Warden death, and the same Lannisters that orchestrated the red wedding.
"Good morning my lords. Do you wish to eat at our table?" Jon said with kind voice, to which both of them bowed and made their way towards the main table, taking seat on Jon's left side.
"Im sorry for their attitude my lords" Jon said to the brothers but Jaimie only smirked, and filled his cup with ale
"Man can get used to that after spending some time here. North really remembers doesn't it?" he said, and this time Jon was the one to smirk. At least it didn't bother him, Jon thought.
"Yes it really does. But as long as it's only mildly annoying, I don't think that there is a point in making a great fuss of it" Tyrion added, earning a nod from Jaimie and cut a part of meat for himself.
The atmosphere quickly went back to being cheery and loud, when the doors opened again, and this time it was Daenerys that made the people go quiet, but when they noticed her, they all quickly got up, and bowed towards her, yet you could see that many of them clearly forced themselves to do it. Even so, Jon was thankful for that. He knew that there was no point in trying to convince them to Daenerys, words would not change a thing when it came to the people from the North. Many of them learned to respect her after she partook in the Battle of Winterfell, and the rest who remained unconvinced would surely change their minds in a time. He at least hoped, that Daenerys felt the same about that.
"Good morning my lords, ladies." Dany said, earning a bow from Tyrion and Jaimie, and, to Jon's surprise, a smile from both Arya and Sansa. He haven't seen his sisters offer her any sign of kindness in those weeks, so even a small smile sent towards her was astounding. Dany sat next to Jon, and wanted to fill her cup herself, but Sansa was the one to stop her.
"I think that our King has manners, and he knows that he should be the one to pour you a drink, or maybe I am wrong?" Sansa said, giving Jon cold glare. He did not know what was happening, or how he should feel about that, so he just lifted Daenerys' cup, and filled it with wine, making Dany blush. Sansa smiled, like she achieved some kind of victory, and Arya did her best to not laugh at the way her brother and sister acted.
"Thank you, my lord" Dany quickly said, sheepishly turning her gaze from him when their eyes met, making Jon embarassed, even more than he already was. He turned around to see if someone did notice that, but Jaimie and Tyrion were in the middle of discussion about something, and none of the rest present in the hall paid any attention to them. Gods, we are acting like children, he thought and felt a sudden need of changing the topic.
"Ser Jaimie?" He said, pulling Jaimie's attention from the conversation he was having with his brother.
"Yes, your grace?" Jaimie asked, and placed his cup back on the table, turning himself to face Jon
"I was thinking about getting some work done after breakfast. I haven't trained since the battle, and i feel a need to stretch my legs. Would you like to join me?" Jon asked, making everyone at the table, and those close to the main table look towards them with confusion. Was Jon planning something, or was it really just a casual proposition towards Jaimie?
"As you probably know your grace, I'm not even close to being a shadow of the fighter I used to be. I've tried learning sword with my left hand, but it didn't really work out" Jaimie said and took a sip from his cup
"Yes, and I'm still asking you to join me in my training. You may not be the swordsman you were, but you are far more experienced than I am. I feel like you could teach me a thing or two" Jon responded, making Jaimie think. He let out a deep breath and poured himself another cup of drink
"I would not be so sure about being more experienced than you, Your grace, but who am I to refuse your proposition. So are you proposing a spar, or just a routine training?" Jaimie asked, making Jon smile. He remembered their first talk, when he was about to leave for the Wall. He was so smug then, so full of himself, making fun of Jon's decision to go to Wall. That man changed, Tyrion and Brienne really were right.
"I would like to start with a spar. Who wouldn't want to spar with Jaimie Lannister?" Jon said in a joking manner, making Jaimie laugh.
"Well, few years before? I'm sure there weren't many people. But now? I guess you could fine some. So are we leaving for training grounds soon, or do you still have something planned your grace?" Jaimie asked, and Jon finished his cup.
"We can go already if you are good to go. I will send someone to fetch us a training gear" Jon said, earning a nod from Jaimie.
"Men and their games" Sansa said, rolling her eyes, to which Arya bumped her softly in her side.
"True, but I would like to see that" Daenerys said suddenly, making Jon's eyes open wide, and Sansa smiled to her sister, She didn't say that in hope of achieving something, she knew already that if something was going to change, she could not force it on him. It was his choice, and pushing him more and more only made things worse.
But to her surprise, Jon's expression quickly turned into a smile, and he softly grabbed Daenerys' hand that she held under table, making her heart jump, and her blood rush.
"If it won't bore you, your grace" he said, offering her a kind smile. Smile that she haven't seen on his face since he told her the truth.
"I'm sure it won't. Who wouldn't like to watch the best swordsman in the Westeros?" Dany said, trying to hide the fact that her voice was trembling with emotions. Jon turned away his gaze, clearly being embarassed at getting this kind of compliment. This time she was the one to grab his hand, even tighter than he did. When Jon turned around, shocked at so sudden reaction from her, he looked Dany in the face, and saw a smile that was so pure and full of emotions, that it made it hard for Jon to turn away this time.
Tyrion was the one to break up this little moment they were having with a single, yet meaningful cough. They quickly came back to their senses, and looked around to see Jaimie that was clearly looking at them just a moment ago, yet now he turned away, probably out of courtesy, and Stark sisters smiling and acting like they didn't see a thing.
