Since he found his vessel, he had been busy establishing the vessel's identity. The first thing he did was visit the vessel's home. Since he had the vessel's soul, it let him access it's memories. As he stepped into the tiny apartment he could see the scene playing in front of him. How his vessel had taken one of his father's own bottles to lead him to his demise. How his vessel and its sister suffered every night by the drunk's belt.
Lucifer made a mental note to punish the father when he returns to hell, that's the least he could do in return. He didn't think death was enough for a vail human like him.
Lucifer took a bag and filled it with his vessel's belongings, just a few articles of clothing, ID and passport. As Lucifer sat on the bus to the vessel's hometown, he closed his eyes and let his shadow check in on Venus.
After Venue's graduation the family of three had taken a two week long vacation to Mexico but hadn't done much since, just met up with family and few friends. Lucifer was somewhat thankful for Venus's parents as they were quite responsible and took good care of her.
Venus that very moment was on a picnic with two of her cousins. He had noticed she didn't seem to have any friends in her school, just a few acquaintances. There wasn't a direct bully, people just found her quite mysterious as they had heard or seen the things that happened in her early age.
The very first incident had been on one of their schools camping trips, she had been afraid to fall asleep as she knew that whatever she was going through wasn't normal. But she ended up falling asleep after the long exhausting day. She had woken up crying and had been sleep talking, which had woken up the whole group in her cabin. They had been trying to wake her for a while but couldn't seem to. Which had frightened the kids and till this day they kept their distance. Since that day whispers went around and hushed "freak" was heard ever so often.
As he got off the bus, the summer sun was high up in the sky, making him squint his eyes from the bright light. The town he had ended up in was quite small, no soul was out as he walked down the road. There were just a few shops near the bus stop, the further he went into the town there were just miles of field and a handful of houses.
As he neared the tiny house with chipped white paint, his heart sank a little. Or was it it's vessel? Didn't matter as the lady that was in the garden came running towards him and engulfed him in her embrace, he couldn't help the tears that flowed down.
"Whe-re had you gone, my baby, my little - I thought you- you were-... dead." The lady said in between sobbs. She was short and plum with gray hair and her head landed on his chest. He hugged her back and whispered sweet nothings. It was the vessel's grandma. He could feel the soul steer inside of him, it ached and warmed his heart.
"I hit the road after... everything that happened, I couldn't stay..." Lucifer couldn't tell if it was his words or the vessel's. The words were laced with sadness and his head hung low as the words left his mouth.
That night when the vessel's grandfather came home more tears were shed. He tried to explain his absence, it didn't take more than a few words as all they cared about was their grandson who had shown up after a year of being missing. They were euphoric just by the sight of him.
He spent most of the summer with them and time seemed to be moving fast. Days soon blended together. He had gotten comfortable in the mundane world of humans, even made a friend as Tae Hyung. He had been called by his vessel's name all summer and soon got used to it.
"Come to New York with me." He said to Yoon Gi as they sat at the edge of the farmland owned by Tae Hyungs grandparents.
Yoon Gi had black hair that reached his eyes and dailcat features with a gummy smile, which he showed occasionally.
