Anna sits at one of the round tables outside of her dorm building at Bryan University. The college isn't that far from her her mom's house or her dad's, it's the perfect distance to not be too close and not be too far. She still returns home every weekend to see her family- but also to get away from her slutty roommate who is always giving dudes blow jobs in their bathroom for money. Anna doesn't have too many friends here. She chats with a few people in her composition class and a nice girl in her math but her real friends are the ones she went to Seaview with. Anna doodles her name onto the side margin of her music theory notebook, glancing up at a clique of girls strutting out the double doors of the building. The blonde leading the group is tall and skinny, her boobs most likely fake. She's tan but Anna isn't sure if that's real or fake. Her eyelashes are long and the arc in her eyebrow is so sharp it looks like it could cut something open. Anna doesn't know too much about this chick. Only that her name is Olivia Meadows and she makes guest appearances on some soap operas. Anna ducks her head when she makes eye contact with Olivia.
"I said not tonight, Gwen." Olivia is bitching at one of her little psychics as they maneuver through the tables. Gwen is a short red head who wears too much cover up to hide her freckles and acne. Anna has often seen her crying alone behind the building but never asked her what was wrong. "Damn it, how many times do I have to repeat myself?"
"I'm sorry." Gwen struggles to keep up with her leader. "I just thought that if you wanted to do something other than party, that my cousin has free access to laser tag."
"Laser tag is for nerds and armies of boys who haven't hit puberty yet." Olivia turns around in front of Anna's table so that she can look down at her friend. When Gwen doesn't 'say anything, Olivia looks over at Anna. "Am I right?"
Anna looks up from her notebook. She really believed that all the bitchy cliques were left back in high school. She thought that there wouldn't be any hot girls running shit with a sidekick. Anna won't stand for it. "Actually, I like laser tag. Run around shooting a bunch of people is fun."
Olivia tilts her head at Anna, her eyebrow arced even more. "What's your name?"
"Anna." She responds back, glancing over at Gwen, who is staring down at her pink and white converse.
"You've got some guts, don't you think?" Olivia puts her twiggy arms behind her back. "Trying to prove a celebrity like myself wrong?"
"You're not that big of a celebrity." Anna closes her notebook. "Starring in a few shows that no one watches isn't that big of an accomplishment."
"You're kind of a bitch." Olivia grins down at her. "I like it."
"I can be a bitch too." Gwen whispers to Olivia.
"Shut up, Gwen." Olivia hisses, rolling her eyes and then looking back down at Anna. "There's a party at one of the sorority houses. Wanna come with?"
Anna taps her pencil against the edge of the table. She's not really the partying type. She's only ever went out to the clubs with Israel, Case, and Tabby right before senior year started but that was it. "No thanks. I like to have the type of fun I can actually remember in the morning."
"Feisty too." Olivia notices. "I don't even drink that much so you're in the clear." Anna doesn't say anything. "Come on. Don't you want to live out the college experience?"
Anna sighs. Proving this chick wrong is quite fun. Olivia walks around campus thinking her shit doesn't stink but Anna takes pleasure in siding with Gwen and making Olivia feel somewhat stupid. "Fine. I'll go."Meanwhile, Alice sits across from Yahtzee and JC at their usual round table in the Seaview High School cafeteria. She looks down at her boobs through her denim dress, wondering how big they'll look after she gets the surgery. She still hasn't said anything to her mom yet but when she asked her dad about getting some surgery for modeling, he was totally on board. Every time Alice thinks that she should feel good in her own skin and that she shouldn't have to change a single thing about herself, she realizes that maybe her boobs COULD be a little bigger. It wouldn't be the worst thing to get them enhanced. Alice grabs both of her boobs to push them up on her chest. "Do you think my boobs are big?"
"I don't really look." Yahtzee leans back in his chair, chewing on a plastic straw and looking around the cafe with a bored look on his face.
"I think so." JC looks at Alice's boobs, putting a fry into her mouth. "They're perky."
"But yours look better." Alice points to JC's chest. Even through JC's black jacket and scarf, her boobs are still popping out and noticeable.
"You think?" JC looks down at her own chest and tilts her head. "I guess they're kind of big."
"Exactly. You'd do just fine in the modeling industry." Alice pushes her bowl of uneaten salad away from her, a little bummed. She doesn't want to have to spend all this money on surgery when it could be going to something like clothes or another vacation to Jamaica. "Which is why I'm getting a boob job."
"Wait, what?" Yahtzee perks up, suddenly interested in the conversation. "You want a boob job?"
"I NEED boob job." Alice sighs dramatically. "I don't want to be some young, flat chested girl out of all the models at the agency."
"Alice, your boobs are just fine." JC looks at her seriously. "You don't need them to get bigger."
"If I want to make it in this business, yes, I do." Alice folds her arms and rests them in front of her on the table.
"Have you talked to Lamar about this?" Yahtzee questions after exchanging a worried look with JC.
"No." Alice says honestly. She didn't think she really needed to let him know what she's doing because it's not getting done to HIS body. It's hers and she can do whatever she wants with it. "Why would I?"
"Gee, I don't know." Yahtzee pretends to think. "Because he's your boyfriend and I'D want to know if my girlfriend was planning to get a boob job."
"What do your parents have to say about it?" JC questions Alice.
"My dad is totally fine with it." Alice looks at her friends, wondering why they're so against this. Shouldn't they be supportive and actually encourage her to do it if this means her being successful? Shouldn't they be offering to be there at the hospital for her after the surgery? "What is wrong with you guys?"
"Nothing is wrong with us, we just think that getting a boob job is unnecessary." JC glances at Yahtzee again, who nods in agreement.
"Okay well I'm not asking for your opinions on the surgery anyways." Alice stands up from her chair. She's kind of annoyed at the fact they're not going to be by her side through this but maybe she doesn't need them to be. Maybe she'll do just fine on her own.
