Caspian woke up drenched in sweat, gasping for air. He ran his hand over his throat.

Holy shit. He thought and scanned around his house.

Caspian got up and shakily tried to put together what he just saw.

"What was that." He breathed out.

He looked outside at the inky black void littered with specks of white.

Still night. I have time.

Caspian walked over to his desk and began to look through his stack of books, trying to piece together what was happening.

Potions, spells, sigils, history of magic none of these would help.

He considered going to William's house and seeing if he could help but then remembered the books William had given him.

Maybe those would help

He opened his bag and took out the two books William had given him. He grabbed the first book, Communication, and began looking through it to see if the dreams were someone trying to talk to him. After flipping through the first few chapters, he saw a small piece of paper stuck between the pages.

"If you ever need help, try this. Good luck my boy."

The chapter was titled "Demons".

Why would he have me use this? I guess it's worth a try.

Caspian read through the list of ingredients and looked around his house for them.

So, all I need is some basil, lavender, four pieces of quartz, a basic crystal, moon water, rose thorns, and a water stone. Seems easy enough.

After he found the last piece, he began to read through the instructions. Caspian grabbed his chalk out of his bag and began to draw the summoning circle. The circle was nothing he had ever done before, there was a large pentagram in the middle with four smaller circles to the North, East, South, and West. There were strange symbols in the circles, the one in the North looked like a symbol for water, the one in the East looked like earth, the South looked like fire, and the West looked like the wind. Caspian began to place the quartz in the four circles and made a circle with some basil and lavender then poured the moon water into a small bowl with the rest of the lavender and basil along with the rose thorns and the water stone. He began to read the inscription written in the book. Once he was finished, he sat and looked around.

"Now what? Did anything happen?"

"Yes, something happened." A voice responded confused.

"Shit!" Caspian yelled.

"Why are you yelling?" The voice yelled back startled.

"You scared the shit out of me that's why!"

"Sorry, you summoned me I thought you would expect me to talk."

"I didn't know that would happen."

"You summoned me how did you not know?" The voice asked once again sounding confused.

"I was told to use this spell if I needed help. The old man who was my teacher gave me these books and said to use them if I needed help, so I did. What are you and what did I do?"

"Oh, um, well my name is Corvus, and I am a Demon. The books that your old teacher gave you are supposed to help you with your training, I guess. I don't know because the books are about the history of Hell and a communications book, so I don't know what he wants you to do- oh never mind I know now."

"What."

"He wanted me to help you with your training. Or at least that's what I think he wants."

"Oh. So just one question that I probably should have asked earlier." Caspian chuckled.

"What?"

"Where are you? All I hear is a voice I don't see anyone."

"Oh, so there are different types of summoning. The first one is where the person being summoned has the choice of showing themself, this is the preferred one, and then there's the second one. The second one is where the person being summoned is forced to show themselves. That's why when you hear stories about summoning people the person being summoned is pissed. You did the one where I have a choice that's why I'm just a voice, I can see you, but you can't see me, thank you for that by the way."

"Oh, um, no problem, I guess. So, are you here or what?"

"Um kind of. I don't know how to explain it, um I am there but not."

Corvus saw the confused look on Caspian's face.

"It's like I'm physically there like a ghost would be, I'm there and I can see everything around you like I would be able to if I was standing next to you, but you can't see me, and I can't interact with anything. You know what I mean?"

"Yeah, it kind of makes sense now."

"Ok good."

Caspian was very confused with all that had happened in the past hour. First, he had that weird nightmare and had no clue what it was about, then he summoned a Demon to help him which only made him more confused.

YOU WILL NEVER MAKE IT IN TIME!

Caspian flinched when the booming voice from his dreams interrupted his thoughts. Corvus looked at him in confusion.

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah just thought I heard something."

"Was it a man yelling?"

"Yeah, why?"

"What did he yell?"

"Something about me not making it in time I don't know why?"

"Ok then. Have you had any weird dreams recently?"

"Yeah, I had one just a little bit ago. The village had been on fire and this King, or at least I think he was one of his men had this symbol that looked like a three-headed dog in front of the fire on their shields, -"

"That doesn't sound good, that's the symbol of Hell. Sorry didn't mean to interrupt, continue please."

"Ok, so his men were burning down the village and were taking the people as salves or prisoners so I grabbed a sword that was on the ground and tried to help some of them get free but some soldiers started to surround me and then when they all started to attack me and they all kind of tackled me I did this weird thing where I panicked I guess and a surge of magic or energy or whatever you want to call it knocked them all away from me and-"

"Wait what? There was a surge of magic that came from you and knocked everyone off of you?"

"Yes, now can I continue?"

"Yeah sorry."

"So, after that the king grabbed me and threw me like really far, farther than any normal human could and I hit a tree and was starting to lose consciousness, but when I did, he said something like I wouldn't be able to stop him or whatever, then I woke up."

Caspian ran his hand over his throat and looked at the floor.

"Well," Corvus said, "things are getting better than I thought they would."

"What do you mean?" Caspian asked.

"You are just the person we need."
