Akaashi Keiji - Soft Emotions

"we've been invited to have a practice match with the boissss!" shirofuku, y/n's best friend, shouted when she entered the girls gym.

all the girls stopped in the middle of their practice. "so, when do we play them?" y/n asks.

"tomorrow night." shirofuku said excitedly. "isn't this going to be fun? both of the amazingly talented setters of fukurodani are having a match! what's more is that they're both the prettiest people I've ever seen!"

y/n rubs the back of her neck shyly. "i wouldn't go that far.. plus kiyoko is far prettier than me." the girl smiles.

"but she's in karasuno and we barely see her anymore because she's the clubs manager with the boy's volleyball team."

'akaashi keiji, uhm?' y/n thought.

shirofuku raised her arms in the air as she walked towards the other girls on the team. "a practice match with the bois! WHOOOOOH!"

the next day came by and the girls are ready for their practice match against the boys.

the players on each team lined up next to each other on the white line as the captain's shook each other's hand. "can't wait to see you play!" bokuto grins.

"you'll see soon enough." the captain of the girl's team smiles innocently.

the referee blew the whistle to start the game.

during the match, both teams gave it their all. bokuto being the emotion child he is and akaashi trying to function him again, but there was another problem akaashi had.

the setter on the girls team, l/n y/n. she had many tricks up her sleeves for any possible situation and akaashi still haven't found a way to stop her. he hasn't played someone that was this difficult to read. but, in a way, he enjoys it. at least, that's what he thinks.

y/n was calm and collective during the game and never hesitated to speak out. she was close with everyone on the team, especially her best friend shirofuku. this gave her more of an advantage for her little tricks.

the boy's coach called for a time out. everyone surrounded their coaches but akaashi couldn't keep his eyes off of the girl.

y/n noticed and smiled warmly at the boy and gave him a small wave before looking away and taking a sip from her water bottle.

with that small interaction, akaashi's heart started beating faster than normal and he felt butterflys in his stomach.

"akaashi!" the said boy snapped out of it when bokuto called out his name. akaashi quickly went back to his teammates.

on y/n's side, she blushed at the fact that the pretty setter was looking at her. she smiled to herself as it kept replaying in her head.

the game was very close, but the girls won in the end. the two teams went to their end of the court and bowed, yelling "thank you for the game!" in unison.

as y/n was packing her stuff up, a boy came up to her.

"l/n y/n, right?" he asks.

the said girl nodded. "akaashi keiji?"

the boy nodded and shyly looks down.

"you were amazing out there!" y/n smiles. "you handled everything with ease, especially your captain." she giggles.

akaashi's heart did a little flip. "i can say the same for you." he rubs the back of his neck. "you knew your teammates strengths and weaknesses and helped them when they're struggling and you have a unique talent has a setter." the boy compliments but realized he said too much.

y/n's turned a light red and laughed. akaashi's heart did another flippity flip. "thank you, that means a lot." she softly smiles.

"ah, would you like to be friends?" the male setter nervously asks.

"i would love to!" the girl's face lit up in happiness.

"here's my phone number. you can text me anytime if you want." akaashi handed his phone to her with a small smile. y/n gladly took it.

you could say these two had huge crushes on each other but both thought they wouldn't have a chance with the other.

a year later and the two became inseparable. they would always hang out with each other, eat lunch together, and even hang out at each other's houses.

after volleyball practice, akaashi asked y/n if they could go to his house and hang out for a bit. the girl agreed and followed him home.

when they entered the house, akaashi puts his stuff down in his room and asks the girl if he could take her bag and he did. he put on netflix and left the living room to make popcorn.

the duo would usually watch a movie when they go to each other's houses.

y/n made herself comfortable on his couch and picked out a movie for the two to watch.

not long after, the popcorn was done and akaashi sat right next to the girl. during the movie, the two would have a conversation of what's happening on screen and make each other laugh.

before the movie ended, akaashi went silent to muster up his courage. "y-y/n, can i tell you a secret?"

"go ahead." she looks at him in curiosity.

the boy hesitated. "when we first met at that practice match... i've always had a huge crush on you. i can understand if you don't like me back, but i still hope we can still be friends." he slowly looked up at the girl in confusion as it has been a bit and she hasn't said anything yet.

y/n's was beat red but she leaned over and gave akaashi a kiss on the cheek. she smiles softly. "i've had a crush on you too."

slowly, akaashi's face lit up in happiness. "i'm glad." he smiles and engulfed the girl in a hug. y/n smiled bright has she hugged back.

they stayed in that position for awhile till akaashi pulled away. "you know, you've always been a softy when you show your emotions." he teased.

y/n playfully hit the boy as he laughed. "i can't help myselffff!"
