As I head to the tip of the rocks to check my phone, I decide to take a photo of the beautiful view. I make my way back down to the water and Zoe isn't there. I freak out and run towards the water.
"ZOE!" I scream. "ZOE!!!!" but no reply. I stare at the water and see bubbles coming to the top. So I dive in.
Once I dive in the water I swim down to the bottom and move my arms and hands around to feel anybody. I feel a leg and drag it up to the surface with me, once at the top of the surface I look at the face of the person and realise it isn't Zoe, it's her mother.
"Well hello good looking," she says and laughs.
"WHERE'S ZOE?" I scream. She just laughs, so I punch her in the face, blood starts to pour from her nose. "ZACK, SCOTT COME QUICK!" I Scream out. They come running and look at me with shock. "SHE TOOK ZOE UNDERWATER, I'LL GET HER, YOU HANDLE THIS ONE," I say and gesture towards her mother. I dive under the water and keep swimming, I reach my arms out and suddenly feel a foot against my hand, I wave my hand around and feel the foot again, so I pull it up, I reach the surface and put the body over the rocks, I breathe heavily and try to get my breath. I look to my left and see Scott on the phone and Zack looking at Zoe's mother. Her nose is still bleeding from when I punched her. She looks up and sees that Zoe is laying on the rocks. Before I can react, she quickly gets up and gets onto Zoe. She starts hitting her and begins to drag her body over to the edge, she grabs her head and places it in the water, but before she can do anything else I jump up and dive at her before she can do anymore harm to Zoe. She goes flying into the water, her nose still bleeding. I pull Zoe's body away from the edge and perform CPR on her, luckily I learnt this back in high school so I know what to do. Zoe starts coughing and I sit her up.
"GET HER SOME CLEAN WATER!" I yell to Zack, he runs to the esky to grab out some water. Zoe is still coughing and I try to get her to breath, she has marks on her arms a bruise on her face and she has a blood lip. I grab the water off Zack and place it in Zoe's mouth, she drinks it but then starts coughing again. Scott comes back and hands Zoe a towel.
"I called the police and ambulance, they are on their way," he says, I nod and make sure Zoe is okay.
"Where's her mother?" Zack asks looking around, I look around also and then I see her, her body is lying in the water face down.
"GET HER OUT OF THE WATER!" I scream, Scott and Zack rush to the water and drag her out. They try to perform CPR on her, but nothing works. I put my focus back on Zoe and make sure she is okay.
"You're literally my hero," she says and hugs me.
"I shouldn't have left you," I say. She starts to cry.
"No it's my fault," she says. "If I was paying more attention to what was around me then this wouldn't of happened," I wrap my arms around her and hug her.
"It isn't your fault," I say.
The police arrive within minutes, and so does the ambulance. I help Zoe up and take her to the ambulance; they place her on a bed and attach the oxygen device to her. Another nurse goes towards Zoe's mother and places her on a bed, he attaches her to the oxygen device also. The two police officers who helped us with the case step out of the vehicle and come towards us.
"Looks like you found her," one of them says.
"More like she found us," Zack says.
"Is she dead?" I ask one of the nurses.
"She is just unconscious, we will get her to the hospital and see from there," they step into the car and drive off.
"What happened?" the other police officer asks.
"Zack and Scott went off for a toilet sabreak; I got out of the water to check my phone. Before I knew it, Zoe disappeared, so I take a closer look at the water and see bubbles. So I dive in and look for a body, only to find Zoe's mother, I pull her up and ask where Zoe is, she laughs and so I punch her. I dive back down and search for Zoe, once I find her I bring her up and perform CPR on her. I don't realise that her mother had gotten up and she came and tried to drown Zoe again, so I pushed her into the water and I'm pretty sure she hit her head along the way," I explain.
"She's going back to prison," the police officer says.
"You 3 better head off to the hospital," the other cop says. We get in our cars and make our way to the hospital.

Once we get to the hospital we ask for where Zoe's room is and head straight for it. We walk in and see her sitting up straight, a doctor asking her questions. She has a bruised eye and her lip and arms are swollen. Scott walks out and down the hall, I don't know where he went. Zack and I are just left with Zoe; she still hasn't noticed us yet. We walk towards her and she looks at us.
"Zoe, how are you feeling?" Zack asks.
"I'm fine, just a little bruised," she says and gestures towards her bruises.
"Where's your mother?" I ask, but before she can answer Scott comes rushing through the door.
"Her mother's dead," he says and everyone looks at him.
"What," is all Zoe says.
"The doctors couldn't wake her, and her heart just stopped, like that." He explains.
Zoe doesn't cry, she doesn't scream, she doesn't even smile. All she does is stare into the open space.
"My mother's dead. My mother's dead," she keeps repeating, Zack walks over to her and grabs her hand.
"You're safe and you're alive," he says and kisses her, I feel a jealous bubble erupt into my stomach.

We stayed at the hospital for another 2 hours and then Scott and I left. We walk towards the car and drive home.
"Do you think there will be a funeral?" I ask him.
"I don't know," he says while driving. He drops me off at my apartment and goes home. I walk upstairs and into room, I immediately text Zoe.
TO: ZOE:
Hey, just wanted to know how you are doing, text me back x
ZOE:
Hey, I'm alright, thank you for saving my life AGAIN, I honestly don't know what I would do without you x
TO: ZOE:
Are you okay, even with what happened with your mum?
ZOE:
I'm a little upset, but I feel more safe now. She can't hurt me.
TO: ZOE:
Will there be a funeral?
ZOE:
No. But I will still get her buried.
TO: ZOE:
Okay, have to go talk later x
I put my phone down and take a shower once I'm out I order some Chinese food then go to sleep. Thinking about what the future has in store for me.
