"Oh, here you are. Good morning, Miss Rutherford," Griffin woke me up far too early and immediately put a cup of steaming tea by my bed: "I apologize for being late, but I hadn't been able to find you earlier. Have you rested well?"

Rested well?

Last night was hell!
Because due to Lani's absolute incompetence in accurate punishments and the associated flooding of my room - I had neither a place to retreat to nor a bed and had to stay in one of the guest rooms in the dead of night, which was only partially ready for occupancy.

So no, I hadn't rested well. Not at all.

"Well, if you'd call constant tossing and turning and the associated startling as such, then I suppose I have." I flashed him a pained smile: "That mattress was bloody uncomfortable!"

"Oh, I'm very sorry about that, Miss Rutherford. Normally the mattresses are changed and adjusted before each guest moves in, but since you moved so suddenly and I wasn't there-"

"Yes, that's all right," I interrupted him calmly and rubbed my throbbing forehead: "Just make sure my room is back in tip-top shape by lunchtime."

"Back in tip-top shape? What's happened to your room, if you don't mind me asking? Is something wrong there?"

"Yes, that's all right," I interrupted him calmly and rubbed my throbbing forehead: "Just make sure my room is back in tip-top shape by lunchtime."

"Back in tip-top shape? What's happened to your room, if you don't mind me asking? Is something wrong there?"
Well, one or two things...

"You could call it that," I replied, exasperated, and briefly struggled before deciding on a part of the truth: "Let's just say that I had a small, not-quite-permitted party yesterday and one of the guests got lost in the basement and pulled the jolly red lever there, turning my room into an indoor pool."

"Oh, so-"

"Yep."

"And can you tell me who this ominous guest was? That way, your mother can claim the damages from his or her family and-"

"Out of the question!" I looked at him angrily and shook my head at the same moment: "I won't tell you the name, nor will my mother find out about it, is that clear?"

"Miss Rutherford, I-"

"Is that clear?" I asked, which Griffin acknowledged with a loud sigh and a brief nod.

"Of course, Miss Rutherford." He bowed slightly: "Will you at least allow me to take the necessary precautions and get in touch with a specialist company? There's no way I can do that on my own-"

"Sure. Do what is necessary."

Why the hell did you protect her? That little tick flooded your room, caused thousands of euros worth of damage and-,

"I know all that!" I interrupted my inner voice sourly and then breathed in and out slowly to collect myself.

And yet it was right to not send her to her doom...

At least I hope so.

☆LANI☆

"Uagh, I want to go back to bed," I yawned sleepily and struggled to keep my eyes open, let alone my mouth open to pour some coffee.

Shit. How was I going to survive today's school day?
