Stupid Enough

Maya -

7:00am

My alarm woke me up in an instant with only 2 beats of the tune playing. I say up straight causing the sleeping Lucas next to me to stir. No I didn't sleep with him we just slept in the same bed. After 2 bottles of wine can you blame us?

I untangled myself from the sheets and headed downstairs to his kitchen to make breakfast. I decided to make bacon and eggs for him. Last night was actually kinda nice to get to know him..he's nothing like Riley yet so similar. He was actually real good company and we had lots of fun laughing non stop. If there wasn't all this spy stuff saying we can't be together then I might say I like him.

"Boo" he shouts from behind me expecting a reaction. I turn around and laugh "you Lucas friar are not scary" I say pushing my finger against his chest "yea whatever" he joked, rolling his eyes. "I better go get ready for school..I made you breakfast" I say sliding him the plate of hot cooked food. I meet his eyes and his face drops  "are you not eating too?" He asked.

"No no I'm okay I'll see you at school tho" I reply slinging my hand bad over my shoulder kissing his head lightly before making my way to the door and out to the New York streets. It wasn't till I was sitting on the subway when I realised my actions why would I kiss him? 

As I get off the train, my phone ringing in my pocket "hey Riles" I say pulling it up to my ear

"Did you manage to talk to Lucas?" She asked

"Uh yea I did I went over last night" I replied quite loudly as the train behind me began to move again

"OMG is that the train are you on your way home? Tell me you didn't sleep with my brother Maya! That is not what I meant by checking up on him" Riley replied. I couldn't tell if she was mad or joking

"No I didn't Sleep with him I just stayed the night. I have to go I'll see you at school" I replied to her. A sigh of relief being heard through the phone

"Okay bye peaches" she said happily, ending the call.

- Time Jump • 5 weeks ahead • 9:00am -

Yesterday, Lucas asked me out.

No I'm kidding. I wish he did though. These past 5 weeks have pretty much consisted off getting to know Lucas, Lucas finding out Zay is also a spy and doing a whole bunch of missions. I've stole files from the NYLLS, to which Lucas stole back so I had to go back again and take them. I've taken some money, some files, keys, plans you name it. In fact there's probably nothing I haven't done.

Lucas gets kinda protective when I have to leave for missions he always texts me a 'be safe x' or a 'don't do anything you would do' text and it's really getting me to like him. Remember the plan where I said I'd work on him to be his weakness because he has none? Yea well turns out he's mine. Luckily, we haven't been assigned many missions where we both have to go like the day we met. There was one 2 weeks ago. I broke his wrist. I mean I didn't mean to it was just important I got it and we had been 'wrestling' to get it. I won. He wasn't mad though, he's never mad

"Hey peaches" Riley said hugging me as I approach the gang sitting outside the history class. "Sup Riles ready for some hardcore learning" I joke. "Yep, are you" she replied happily "ahhh No" I said, the bell ringing mid sentence.

Halfway through history his watch vibrated on the desk "sir may I excuse myself" Lucas asked standing up to which the teacher allowed. Moments later mine buzzed, Zays too. Guessing this is us again Lucas. "Sir may we be excused" Zay said standing up "wait for Mr Friar do come back" he said, turning back to write on the board. Zay and I left anyway despite the 'where are you going' and the 'you do not walk out of my classroom'

We make our ways to the locker where we see Lucas standing there trying to get my code. Zay goes to the lockers behind him and I appear next to Lucas "8542" I say, a small jump can be seen from Lucas as he was unaware we were there "I'm sorry Maya but you know how it is" Lucas said opening the locker pulling out the file and reading it

I make my way over to Zay, "No I'm sorry Lucas" I start, catching his attention towards us "I'm sorry that your agency is stupid enough to think that they put our files in my locker" I say as Zay holds up the new mission file "then what's this" he asks holding the file he was just reading "oh that, that is last weeks mission that I forgot to take out" I laugh. In sequence. Zay and I both turn into our spy costumes and head toward the schools front door.

"Collect the riverstone artefact from the New York museums 'under the sea' art exhibition" I read from behind Zay who was driving his motorbike out of school "got it" he confirmed, driving to the museum. We soon located where the art exhibition would be from the buildings roof, Zay pulled out his tools and managed to cut a me sized hole in the ceiling for me to drop through "I'll spot you from up here" he said, tying a loose rope to himself and a sturdy pipe behind him,  the other end to be harnessed onto me

I begin my decent down, the exhibition which doesn't start till Monday, has a few museum workers standing at the doors not allowing entry. The river stone artefact was in a glass container luckily, directly below me.

As I was about halfway down, the phone in my back pocket began to ring. I frantically twisted and turned to try and grab it before the Guards realised "shit shit shit shit" I hissed, sliding the accept button and quickly pulling it up to my ear

"Hey Peaches!" My bad timing best friend chirped through the end

"He-hey Riles..Whatcha- Whatcha want haha" I fake laugh barely above a whisper

"I was wondering if you wanted to come hang out at mine? I was gonna call the others too you know to hang out" Riley beamed happily

"I-I-I can't Riley, maybe another day. Zays with me he can't come either I'm sorry gotta go love you" I replied in the same panicked whisper as earlier before hanging up the line and attempting to slide the phone into my back pocket

The phone missed and fell, hitting the glass box below me at just the right angle to instantly shatter the whole box and catch all of the guards attentions. "Zay!" I cry speeding down the decent to reach the artefact quicker "Maya there's people up here hurry"
Zay responded. There was no way I was gonna be able to make it down and back up in time for us to miss all the guards. Grunting can be heard below me, however, it's the least of my problems right now

"Ah..Ah okay Zay just drop the line I'll land it. Fight the guards and meet me back at your bike in 10" I shout hoping he can hear, him no longer being in my view. Moments later the rope drops significantly and a small help escaped my lips. Bracing for impact I squeeze my eyes shut waiting to feel the ground

I land in arms, opening my eyes I see good boy Lucas holding me "we have to go now" he said in a serious tone, I simply complied, picking up my phone and the artefact and sliding them into my pockets. I give him a slight not and we run out towards the exit hand in hand.

Through the dinosaur exhibit, the beach, the wars, New York History "how did you manage to fuck this one up Maya" he replied still running with me "your sister is how" I stated, a small grunt coming from his lips. We make it to the exit, Zay stands there with his helmet on holding one out for me. I grab it and slide it on, getting on the bike in 2 swift motions

Lucas speeds off in front of us and makes his way somewhere while Zay and I head back to NYDLS to complete the mission.

"Agent Hart, Agent Babineaux, you've done it again" Mr Lopez states as he leans back in his fancy desk chair "see this is why you guys are my top spies" he laughs "it wasn't all that easy sir, a few guards saw us. We're most likely on the museums security tape" I reply "it's fine. Zay on your way out get the coding team to delete the footage will you? And here's $5 bucks get yourselfs a doughnut or whateva on your way home for being my favourites" he said, sliding over a $5 bill. We thank him and make our way our the building.
