Lucas Friar To The Stand

After what felt like forever we made it to the NYLLS agency. Farkle, Zay and Smackle were waiting by the door. We all ran through to the medic room, auggie on my hip. Shawn and my parents stood there watching through the glass as the medic team worked on her.

"She's in a life chamber. They can bring people back to life. You put them in and then the body disappears from the horizontal chamber. They reappear in that vertical chamber alive" one of the doctors explained.

They turned the chamber on, bright lights and a mechanical sound flashed in front of us and within seconds her body disappeared from the glass chamber. We all held hands, waiting for them to open up the vertical chamber. And when they did, she wasn't in there

"Wh-wh-where is she" I question turning to the doctor. He rushed inside and shut the blinds in front of the window, Disappearing for a good 10 minutes. Shawn went in with him and came out with a tear stained face "The equipment used in the machine is very specific..one of the compartments you need to make it work wasn't there..it had been stolen..so she's gone and we don't know where" he cried

We each broke down again. She's really gone. Maya Hart is dead. "Is there anything we can do to make it work?" I plead. "No. I don't think so. They are going to look into it but that'll take a few days" Shawn replied. "I'm going to go..have to tell Katy the news" He said rubbing his face before walking off to go home.

My parents left with auggie next, then Zay and Smackle, then Farkle convinced Riley she had to go home leaning me to just stare at the last spot she was in. I watched as they wiped the blood from the chamber, I watched as they shut down the faulty equipment. "You should go home..you've been watching the chamber for 3 hours. Unfortunately, that won't bring her back" one of the doctors dared to say

Having to energy to fight with this person I got up and left, making my way home. Her last few moments consisted of her thinking I was going to kill her, i knew I would never have been able to do it but I'll never get the chance to tell her. And the whole week before I'd been a complete idiot too.

I slam the door to my apartment shut behind me, every place reminding me off her. I decide to go straight to bed with absolutely no will to live.

- 4 weeks later -

These 4 weeks roughly consisted off: Nothing. I barely leave my house only to get groceries. Drinking everyday and trying not to use my brain had been the only way I've managed to cope with the death.

Shawn and Katy decided not to have a funeral for her until the Trial is over. The trial starts today to decide what happens with Josh and Mr Strayer. I don't know why there needs to be a trial. She's dead thanks to them so they need to be locked up.

A knock on my door distracts me and from my thoughts. "Hey we thought we'd head to the court with you" Riley sniffles, Farkle, Zay and Smackle behind her. I let them in where they sit on the couch quietly

I continue to get ready for the court putting on my formal clothes. "Let's go" I mumble opening the door to get in the car. They all pile in behind me and we head to the courthouse where Our family's are waiting.

We sit in the room, Shawn and Katy's lawyer John the front beside Josh and his lawyer. Everyone stands as the judge enters then takes their seats. Josh makes his statement about what happened before Mayas lawyer hers to talk. Josh'a lawyer tries to defend him, saying it was me who initiated it

Mayas Lawyer turned to the judge "I call for Lucas Friar to take the stand" She said. Family's turn to me as the blood drained out of my face. I stood up and headed down to her where she directed me to the stand "I swear that I will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" I mumble repeating after the guy standing there

I sit on the stand, everyone's eyes on me. "Mr Friar we are going to start off with easy questions okay" She starts, a small smile on her face. I nod in agreement "what was your relationship to Miss Hart" she asks "we were best friends" I state simply

"Who is Joshua Matthews to you" she asked "he's my uncle" I replied. "Mr Friar is it true you and Miss Hart work for opposite agency's" she questioned "yes" I replied. She nodded slowly "can you explain your series of events to the Judge"

"I had a mission to go to the warehouse. I knew I wasn't going to Kill Maya but I knew that My boss wasn't going to let this one go. She showed up and I pointed a gun on her which was on safety. I showed her a contract then i put the gun down. Mr strayer cape down the stairs and demanded I did it otherwise my family would die who he had tied up. Maya ran other to Riley and then she came back before Mr Strayer payed attention to her. Josh came down from behind him and shot Maya" I state, telling her my story

"Is this Riley in the room today Mr Friar?" She asks "Riley Matthews she's my sister. she's the girl in the pink dress..in the 3rd row" I point her out "Miss Matthews please stand" the lawyer asks "OBJECTION! Where is she going with this hour honour" Josh's lawyer protested. "Please your honour it will make sense" The other lawyer said. The judge allowed her to continue, "what did Miss Hart say to you when she went over to you?" The lawyer asked

Riley sucked in a breath "she gave me a watch and said to tap it six times and write the letters H E L P on the screen then left" Riley said "Thank you you may sit" The lawyer started "your honour I have proof of this, this piece of paper shows a time frame for when Riley Matthews sent the message. Mr Friar can you read it out to the court" the lawyer asked handing me the paper

I read aloud "Mr Lopez then went on to contact Shawn Hunter, Miss Harts stepfather and CEO of the agency. and for the contract Mr Friar showed Miss Hart reads that Miss Hart signed a document stating to kill the Matthews family by this year. The document which was forged, had been named as fake by Mayas boss, Mr Lopez and also uses the wrong signature from Mayas childhood years. She updated it 6 years ago according to Mr Lopez however it was not updated on her hard drive which would have been up to Miss Hart to change. We have security footage of the mart across the street which places Joshua Matthews at Miss Harts building the same day the contract was shown to Mr Friar who was recovering from a stab wound after a mission with Maya Hart, Isiah Babineaux, Riley Matthews and Farkle Minkus. Lucas Friar is innocent your honour, we are frankly wasting our time investigating him" Mayas lawyer spoke confidently

The honour banged the gavel "Mr Friar you may take your seat. You are not a suspect of this investigation" the judge smiled allowing me to take my seat next to Riley again

"We are taking a recess meet back in 20 minutes" the Judge stated letting the court go.
