The swing let out creaks as he sat down on it. The pink haired guy, whom he now recognized as Chae Hyungwon, sat down beside him.
An awkward silence settled between them as Changkyun bit his lip, feeling the nervousness churn in his stomach.
"Hi again, I guess?" Hyungwon chuckled lightly at the other shyness, fiddling with his fingers himself. Changkyun muttered a small hi, looking down at the table.
"I'm really sorry, you know, for not watching were I was going." Hyungwon laughed.
"Well, I did tell you it's alright. Besides, I was kind of in my own world. Didn't think I would meet my soulmate today, you know?" The shorter make smiles slightly, tensing at the remark of soulmate.
He finally met his soulmate.
Chae Hyungwon was his soulmate.
To be honest, Changkyun didn't know how to react. Was he happy? Or was it this feeling of sudden sadness and insecurity? He didn't know.
But he was nervous for sure.
"We haven't really met around, have we? Besides last time and now." He got to admit, the male was pretty handsome and seemed kind also. This was the person who was his soulmate.
What did he expect actually? That they would date directly and fall in love? Like some kind of drama?
They were barely knew each other, it was just stranger meeting stranger.
Changkyun shook his head, not daring to speak. What if he messed up?
"Then, I should introduce myself properly. I'm Chae Hyungwon, 26 years old. I'm studying Economics. Hi soulmate." The smile was a little bit insecure, yet bright and Changkyun was reminded of that he wasn't the only one insecure.
"Hi." A small smile as the other brightened up on hearing his voice.
"I'm Im Changkyun, 24 years old. I just moved here and I'm studying Science." The guy laughed as they pulled out their drinks from the bags.
"You are new to town, huh? No wonder I haven't seen you around." Changkyun smiled shyly.
"Well, at least until some days ago. Mind if I ask?" He shook his head, curious of what the older wanted to ask about.
"Who's the short male you was with?" He laughed, knowing Jihoon's face if he heard right now.
"It's just one of my friends. I was actually here with him earlier, he left with his boyfriends earlier." Hyungwon nodded and Changkyun decided to not ask why.
"How long have you been in Seoul?"
Changkyun hummed as he took a sip of his drink, smiling slightly as the tension loosened up. "I don't know, maybe three months or so. I've been here for a few weeks."
"How is it here, then?" The younger sat back, letting the swing move as he thought.
"It's really loud." A small laugh and he continued.
"My hometown is much smaller and I'm used to silence so often. It's bigger too but somewhat exciting I guess. Lots of traffic and people everywhere." Hyungwon laughed.
"Yeah, you'll get used to that soon. I was new to all this some year ago too." He nodded as they looked down on the ground, silence falling between the two males.
"Hey-"
"Um-"
Both of them burst out laughing, realizing that they talked on the same time. Changkyun frowned but mumbled quietly for Hyungwon to continue. The older shook his head, chuckling.
"I'm sorry, it's just, I don't think either of us was ready on meeting each other this day." Changkyun nodded.
My soulmate doesn't want me.
That's what happened to Dongmin. What if the situation was the same?
What did he expect?
Hyungwon must already have someone. It wasn't like they waited for each other, exactly.
The older noticed his silence, unsure about something. After a while, he sighed and looked up at the sky, the sun slowly sinking as orange and pink colored the sky.
"I got a boyfriend." He sat quietly, not looking at Hyungwon.
Of course you have.
"I'm sorry, it's just I'm very unsure about this. I really love him, you know?" Hyungwon looked anxiously at the younger and the deep green in his arms.
"I understand hyung." Changkyun looked at the older, seeing slight gold orange paint on his arms.
He never considered himself as gold...
His orange looked more beautiful than the orange on the sky. Light orange with shiny gold colors reminding him of fire.
"I don't expect you to abandon or break up with your boyfriend. You must really love him, right?" The pink haired male nodded.
"Then be with him. Just because we are soulmates isn't it meant for us to be together always, I don't expect that from you. You deserve to be happy."
"Have you ever fallen in love?" Changkyun chuckled lowly, shaking his head.
"Did you?" Once again, the younger shook his head.
"I'm not that person that waits for my soulmate. I just haven't found anyone." He looked at Hyungwon, reading the older's pretty face. The older had a soft smile, almost understanding.
Changkyun felt nothing.
And everything on the same time. He was hurt, yes, but he would never destroy a relationship. He didn't even believe in soulmates as much as the others in the world.
So why was he sad?
Soulmates, they said.
Like a promise. He guessed it was a promise after all, just nothing meant for everyone.
He smiled.
"I'm not pushing you away, Changkyun. You are my soulmate but I'm willing to get to know you." The older pulled up his bag, digging after something.
"Here. Give me your number." He gave Changkyun his phone.
"We are soulmates after all. I'm willing to try with you if you will accept me too. Don't be foolish to think I would just go and have no feelings for you." Hyungwon laughed, causing him to smile.
For the first time, he felt his heart warm. Soulmates.
"Are you sure? It's not just the soulmark is it?" The other shook his head.
"I'm pretty sure that even if we haven't noticed, I would still try being friends with you. Just standing there, that time, was enough to catch my attention." He smiled brightly as Changkyun laughed.
"You are a good person. I will talk to Hoseok, I'm sure he will be alright with it." He looked shocked as the older snorted.
"What..do you mean?"
A laugh as his brain seemed to slow down the time. Everything that were heard was the breeze and trees as the sun disappeared behind the horizon.
"It means, would you give me a try Changkyun?" He held his breath as Hyungwon looked at him with soft eyes.
"You are a good person. I'd like to know you more, my soulmate."
All he could manage was a nod before laughing.
The insecurity disappeared as Hyungwon smiled reassuring against him. He was sure he wouldn't stop asking if it really was alright.
Im Changkyun finally met his soulmate.
