"Yeah.." Jungkook mumbled and then walked away to grab a ball.
He came back to Taehyung, not making eyecontact.
"Where do you wanna go?"
"U-uh, what?"
Startled, Taehyung got up, looking at the younger with confused eyes. Jungkook rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"The hall. Where do you wanna go because we can't stay here."
"Oh, anywhere is fine, you choose." Taehyung gulped nervously, something about the brunette's behaviour made the blonde want to submit to him. Taehyung's eyes widened at his own thoughts and he tried hard to prevent a blush from coating his cheeks but he failed miserably.
"...hyung? Taehyung!"
Jungkook calling his name brought him back to reality and he blinked at him, the younger wearing a sour expression.
"Fine, I'll just warm up by myself then." he proclaimed in an annoyed tone and jogged away.
Taehyung's eyes widened once more and he hurried to catch up to Jungkook.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook. I... I spaced out."
The younger just scoffed and tossed the ball to Taehyung, the older stumbling backwards due to the unexpected force. Gulping, the blonde stared down at the ball, not really knowing what to do now, so he looked at the younger for help. Jungkook visibly rolled his eyes, making the other feel stupid.
"If you're just going to roll your eyes at me, then why don't you go switch partners?" Taehyung spat eventually, crossing his arms.
"I would if the teacher hadn't made clear that we shouldn't complain anymore." Jungkook hissed.
"Y-you're right, I'm sorry."
His heart stinged slightly at the younger's words, a wave of guilt washing over him, adding to the previous one which made Taehyung just want nothing more than for Jungkook to forgive him as soon as possible. But he couldn't find the words. He was scared that the younger would still hate him even after he had apologised properly.
"It's too late for you to say that anyways.." Jungkook mumbled and looked at Taehyung who was just standing there, not knowing what to do and being pretty guilty on top of that. The brunette's features softened the slightest bit and he cursed himself for having fallen so hard for the blonde that he couldn't stand seeing Taehyung with a sad expression.
"We need to warm up now. Just dribble around while my job is to snatch the ball away from you and vice versa, got it?" Jungkook explained, trying to sound as unmotivated as he could.
Taehyung nodded happily and they began warming up. Soon, the blonde knew why he had never been into sports. He was panting heavily while Jungkook stood infront of him, no emotion in his eyes recognizable and Taehyung knew that the younger wasn't even halfway warmed up yet but he also knew that his body wasn't going to be able to keep up with it.
"Can we take a short break please?" Taehyung's ragged breaths filled Jungkook's ears and he sighed, putting the ball down.
"I-I'm sorry, my body hasn't been in a good condition recently..." the blonde mumbled, starting to get dizzy and lose his balance. However, the two strong arms around his waist to keep him from falling were not there this time. Taehyung's ass hit the floor uncomfortably, pulling a wince from his throat.
"Want me to get the teacher?" Jungkook asked dryly, not seeming to care about it.
"No, I'm okay..." Taehyung whispered, shakily getting up.
"Good," the brunette remarked, powerfully chucking the ball to Taehyung which almost hit the older's belly directly, causing him to wince again, "it's your turn."
After some more than exhausting warm up, the teacher got their attention through a loud whistle.
"Listen up everybody! I'm now going to divide your into teams of 5 and then we'll start playing right away."
Jungkook hoped that he and Taehyung would get separated but luck wasn't on his side today. And not only did he stay together with the blonde but they were also one of the two teams who were going to play at first while the rest sat down on a bench.
Taehyung was kind of anxious since the warm up had clearly showed that he sucked at basketball. While his team decided who'd get which position, the blonde remained silent because he had no idea what they were talking about. After a classmate made clear to him that he'd be one of the defenders, the game started.
Taehyung found it hard to concentrate when almost everyone's eyes were on him. He tried, really, but it still wasn't good enough. Jungkook scored most of their points and soon enough, a thin layer of sweat covered his body which didn't go unnoticed by Taehyung. Tiny drops of sweat were rolling down Jungkook's face and past his neck, it was so sexy—
Mortified, the blonde shook his head as this was the second time he'd had such perverted thoughts this day. He knew he should focus more on how to apologise to Jungkook but the younger's too well sculpted body kept him from being able to think straight.
"Taehyung, watch out!!"
"Huh?" Taehyung looked up in surprise but he was met with a basketball flying towards his head at an inhuman speed.
The model squeezed his eyes shut, getting ready for the ball to hit his head— but the pain never came. Instead, Taehyung felt someone tower over him, a quiet hiss leaving the person's lips. The whole gym was silent as Taehyung opened his eyes carefully. And they widened drastically when they saw who saved him.
Jungkook stood infront of him, their faces only being inches apart. His arms were outstretched in a protective way, almost caging Taehyung as if he wanted to make sure the basketball wasn't going to hit the blonde at all costs. Surprised, but still in shock, Taehyung blinked before regaining his composure again.
"T-thanks.." he rasped out, feeling incredibly tiny in that position.
"Keep your eyes fucking open next time." Jungkook growled and backed off, getting back into position as Taehyung tried to progress what just happened.
