Chapter 4: The Awkward Moment

Joel POV

I’m walking with Lexi, back to her home. It just feels like forever when we’re walking together… It’s also awkward too.

“Can I ask you a question?” She asked in a sudden, trying to avoid the awkward silence, I guess?

“Yea sure!” I answered quickly.

“You look as red as a tomato just now when I was telling you why I was crying, why is that?” She said..

“Erm… I...I… I’m always nervous when I’m talking to girls…” I answered while I'm scratching the back of my head.

That safe though, I thought to myself. Lexi giggled.

"No, you normally get along with girls pretty easily." Lexi shot back. Oh shit I thought to myself.

“Hey, why not change the topic to something else.” I said within a split second. “Ok, fine!” She said, doing the why-not-continue-the-conversation face.

 Lexi POV

“So, how do you know I’m sitting at the back of the street crying?” I continued.

“Okay, so I went to Riley’s house after school and I left her house after an hour or so. And I was walkin down the streets, then I heard crying sound coming from the back of the street." He explained.

“Then you found out that I’m sitting here alone crying?” I continued, “So… How’s your day with Riley?” I asked curiously.

“Great… It was great.” He said.

“I was wondering why Riley was so mad today, after math class?” I asked in a sudden, again.

“I… I’m not sure…” He stuttered.

“You know, I was just talking to you, nothing much. Well… I also helped you to wipe some random things away beside your lips, that doesn’t mean anything, right?” I said seriously.

“Just forget about it.”

“Hey, I think we arrived my home.” I said while stopping outside a wooden house.

“Oh…”

Joel POV

I just don’t want this moment to stop, I like talking to Lexi and I really want to moment to go on… Wait what?! WHAT AM I THINKING!? IT’S NOT LIKE WE HAVE A CRUSH ON HER OR ANYTHING?!

“Joel!” Lexi said raising up her voice.

“Yes!?” I said loudly.

“I’ve been calling you for 5 times!” Lexi said impatiently.

“Oh… sorry…” I stuttered.

“You can leave now.” She said silently.

“Oh ok, so… s-see you tomorrow…!” I said as I wave at her.

“Bye.” She said waving back.

Lexi POV

Joel’s face was as red as a tomato just now… again!? He’ve always been like that when I’m around him, I wonder whats wrong with him… I then remember that I’m standing in front of my house. I’m still wondering whether I should go inside, I’m afraid that my dad would kick me out of the house, again. However, I just opened the door. I went inside quietly and saw my dad lying on the couch, sleeping, with the TV on. I silently went into my room. I laid on my bed, thinking of Joel… His messy brown hair and killer smile literally make me have heart attac- WAIT WHAT?! WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT HIM!? HE’S TAKEN. I DON’T LIKE HIM! Oh please Lexi, you know that you like him. I really don’t! Don’t even lie to yourself. Look at him, he’s the exact definition of perfection. Oh god… Joel is getting on my nerves right now… I really need to stop thinking about him (aka perfectionist), or else… THIS CAN LEGIT PROVE THAT I AM OBSESSED WITH HIM! Ok… ok… ok… OH SHIT! Its 23:30 now, I needa take a shower now and go to bed no later than 0:00, or else I’m gonna look like a zombie tomorrow when I go to school! Ok, good night!
