Hachi's eyes drifted back to the PC monitor as he entered the Discord chat. "Oh Cod, I'm gonna regret this," he chuckled into his mic, "okay, I think we all know why we're here."
"You want us to react to this fanfiction you found?" Buffy asked, "right?"
"This is what happens when you're bored..." he grumbled, slipping his phone out of his pocket and opening the app, "it's similar to that one alternate timeline that we took a peep into. The one where Order won."
"Ohhhh... that one sucked," Callie giggled, "that fell into the 'everything went to hell' category of AU, that's for sure."
"Great, okay, ahem. Say your name if you're here, first of all?"
"Buffy and Vivi is here with me."
"Callie."
"Marie."
"Marina."
"Pearl."
"Cloud."
"Tavi."
"Maverick."
"Shade, I guess."
"Great, okay. I'm gonna start reading."
And this is the part of the story where it is no longer going to be formatted nicely to give it that Tumblr vibe.
"You wanted to see me, Mommy?"
Marina's eyes drifted from her long clear desk to the Octoling who had entered the room.
Her daughter.
Agent 8.
Cloud: hold up. So Marina adopted Eight in this story?
Marina: I would have adopted Eight here if he wasn't legally an adult. But we adopted Seven.
Pearl: Is Pearlina tagged in this? Hang on, lemme check— YEP. "Includes heavy Pearlina", great.
Hachi: Oh Cod we're gonna get some feels.
Pearl: Oh, and Calf1sh.
Tavi: NEXT.
The Octoling's tentacles were a glittery silver, the Hive Mind Glasses currently resting on her forehead, the previous Agent's bright grey eyes blinking curiously. Marina nodded, staying in her position in her seat as she stared 8 in the eyes.
"Have you
found Mizuta yet?"
Callie: okay, well, Mizuta's important time the story.
Tavi: Babe, she's apparently your girlfriend in this.
Callie: I am Bi...
Cloud: [wheeze] can we all just appreciate how cute this pairing is, though? I mean, you two are good friends.
Shade: I guess... this Agent Eight chick sounds pretty from the way she's described.
Marie: Feeling stabby?
Shade: For once, no.
Marina: [wheeze] Stop trying time act all brooding,
I know you're enjoying this.
8 bit her lip before silently shaking her head. "No. I'm sorry, we still can't find her." Marina sighed. Oh how easy it would be to Sanitize 8.
Hachi: My PTSD right now... [muffled screaming]
A daughter who could actually follow orders and fins that one simple traitor in her perfect world. Word that Mizuta has been helping the few remaining un captured members of team chaos had spread, and Marina wanted her here and Sanitized instantly.
Maybe having Callie, (who was obviously second in command now that the Octoling overlord having taken Pearl out of the picture) see her precious girlfriend Sanitized oils get enough to convince her to surrender with this little untouchable rebellion underground.
Callie: Poor Mizuta! This girl always goes through such carp in everything!
Maverick: [wheeze] I'm sorry— that was a great reaction.
Alas, Mizuta was too good at staying hidden. And she couldn't sanitize 8 to get the job done because Marina would never admit it, but she would miss the conversations with her daughter that kept her slightly sane still.
Marina: This is so sad! I wouldn't want to Sanitize Hachi or Vivi if I were in her position in this timeline!
[Xx_Vivi_xX has joined the chat]
Cloud: Vivi! I thought you weren't gonna be verbal.
Vivi: Well, I'm only gonna make a comment here. Uh, this is sad. Poor Eight.
A better punishment would be sanitizing 8's girlfriend, agent 3.
Cloud: My gay heart.
Hachi: Babe, no.
Cloud: Also, I remember Tartar doing that to you with me and... it hurts. I really hope she doesn't go through with that later.
She didn't like being told what to do and was very difficult not to snap at, and was only kept unsanitized for the sole reason that Marina didn't want to put 8 through that again after what happened in the Metro.
Waving her hand dismissively, Marina sighed. "Very well. Get 3 and announce the stages. If she says no remind her of what will happen to anyone who disobeys." As if in cue, Marina could be seen from the reflection in her table outside the large spacious wonder behind her, a pod of sanitized octocopters flew right past her. 8 flinched at the sight, nodding as she began making her way to the door way.
Pearl: I've just had a realisation.
Marina: What is it?
Pearl: I'm clearly either dead or captured. How come I only just realised that?
Marie: Maybe because you were thinking about it?
She paused though, the younger Octoling's eyes glancing at her mother's. "...how much longer are you going to keep her down ther—"
Pearl: HA! I knew it!
Marina cut 8 off almost instantly with a cold harsh expression. 8 had asked this question many times about her.
"As long as it takes for her to surrender her sanity to our perfect world 8. As long as it takes."
Hachi turned off his phone and let out a sigh. "So, what do you all think?"
"That's a good first chapter," Shade admitted through her mic, "really good."
Buffy laughed nervously. "I'm scared. Mom, I'm scared."
"Calm down. It'll be okay," Marie giggled.
"I'm not scared like that I'm scared about what will happen next."
"Alright, same time next week?"
"Yeah."
