MEET MARIA
Also known as ReeReverie on Wattpad, Maria Crawford is a journalist, columnist, poet, and blogger turned award-winning author. Her dark, thrilling, gritty romance novels have accumulated hundreds of thousands of reads on Wattpad, where she has been expanding her work since 2014.
From the time she was a child, Crawford has taken an intense interest in poetry, with William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe topping her list of favorites. Sonnet 18 and Annabel Lee inspired Crawford to begin writing her own poems as a pre-teen.
Drawing from these classic writers, Crawford aimed to follow in their footsteps by melding the themes of fated love and agony into her works. With a hope to evoke pure, genuine, visceral emotion from her readers, Crawford strikes a balance between fairy tale happiness and real life heartache in her stories.
She is a Wattpad Star, a Wattpad Featured author, and a winner of multiple writing contests—most notably the 2018 Fiction Awards for Best Mystery-Thriller. Crawford's poetry has been featured in an academic magazine, as well as the @WattpadPoetry "Balladry Verses" anthology. She previously blogged for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Crawford's first novel, Arrows & Anchors, entered the Wattpad Paid Stories program in October 2019.
When she isn't writing (or daydreaming of moving to England with her soulmate and six rescued cats), Crawford enjoys creating amateur book trailers on YouTube, learning the lyrics to as many songs as she possibly can, and volunteering nightly to help stray animals around her city of Dallas, Texas.
