The Martyrdom of Hazrath Khubaib Ibn Adi Al Asadi r.a

*Looking up to the heaven he said “Oh Allah there is no one to convey my last Salam to thy Prophet s.a.w” Allah then sent his Salam through an angel.*

………As the time drew nearer for his execution, by the kith n kin of those Kuffar whom he had killed during the previous battles. The Kuffar began beating their drums and singing songs of triumphant vengeance. Celebrating these moments.
Our star, Khubaib r.a was asked to make his last wish, he requested that he be allowed to perform two Rakah’s of salah before he left this world to meet his lord. On his completion he calmly said “If you would not think that I was afraid of death I would have performed another two Raka’as of Salah.”
The anticipation of the Kuffar grow, chants echo themselves through the crowd, and everybody wants to see the vengeance done to the killer of their loved ones.
Khubaib r.a shared his final sentiments through a poem that he had composed. (The Arabs had a talent of expressing themselves through poetry). He remained composed in the face of death and expressed himself saying “they say that if I renounce Islam my life will be spared. But it is better to die with belief than live with unbelief.”

As the moment drew nearer to kill Khubaib r.a , just before his life could be taken, the Kuffar tauntingly called out to Khubaib r.a, “Don’t you wish that you were spared and Muhammad got this punishment instead. Would you not prefer that you should be resting in your home and he was killed in your place?” Whilst he was a man facing the greatest test of his life, death my execution; a test that he had earned only because of his belief in the Kalimah. In a moment of such anguish and worry, his answer remained resolute; his faith remained firm. He replied assertively “By Allah, I cannot imagine that a thorn prick the foot of Muhammad s.a.w while I rest in my home.”
Amazement and disbelief coloured the faces of the nonbelievers observing the Iman of Khubaib and the love for his Nabi s.a.w. At this Abu Sufyaan, who had not yet embraced Islam, commented, “Witness the love of the companions of Muhammad s.a.w, it is unparalleled and unprecedented.”

Subhanallah! Beloved readers look at the Iman of Hazrath Khubaib r.a , look at the love that he had for Nabi s.a.w. That even at the time of his death his thoughts, words and actions were brimming with Iman, brimming with the love of Nabi s.aw not even for his wife or any member of his family. Yet it takes just one mocking jeer from our peer’s for us to shun the Sunnah, throw our head gears off, shave our beards. Or even sometimes Na oozu billah to shun Iman itself. We should use the Iman of the Sahaba r.a as a gauge to see how low our Iman has stooped, make dua that Allah gives us even an iota of their Iman, accept the sacrifice’s they made for deen and fill us with his love and the love of those whom he loves.
