بسم الله الرحمن الرحيمFalling in love with Sahaba💫💕
Abdullah ibn Unays رضي الله عنه
Abdullah Ibn Unays رضي الله عنه was a Sahabah who was a great warrior. The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would send him on expeditions and he also was fortunate to narrate Ahadeeth.
Once, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم called him and said, "I have found out that Khalid bin Sufyaan Bin Nubayy of the Bunu Hudayl has gathered a force to attack me. He is now at Urna, go there and kill him."
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Unays رضي الله عنه asked, "Oh Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, describe him to me so that I can recognize him."
Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, "When you see him, you will find him shivering."
Abdullah ibn Unays رضي الله عنه set out with his sword around his neck and traveled to Urna until he found Khalid Ibn Sufyaan, the enemy of Allah's Nabi with his wives. It was already Asr time, and Khalid was looking for somewhere to settle with his wives.
Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Unays رضي الله عنه saw him and recognized the shivering that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم had described so he advanced towards him.
So careful was Abdullah رضي الله عنه about performing his Salah on time, that as he carried out this mission of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, he was worried that it might make him late and cause him to miss his Salah. Unable to bear this, he recited his Salah as he walked towards the enemy, making Ruku and Sajdah with gestures of his head. (Salah during battle is allowed to be done differently, with special rules).
When he reached Khalid, he asked, "Who is this man?"
"I am an Arab who has heard about you gathering your forces against that person, (Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم) and I have come to you in this regard," said Abdullah رضي الله عنه , giving him the impression that he came to assist him.
"Yes," said Khalid. "I am busy with that."
Abdullah رضي الله عنه traveled with him for a while until he found an opportunity. He then attacked him with his sword, overpowered him and killed him, successfully completing the task that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم appointed him over. He then left and went back to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
When Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم saw him coming, he said, "A look of success."
"I have killed him," said Abdullah رضي الله عنه .
"True," was the reply. Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم then stood up with him, took his to his room and gave him a staff saying, "Keep this staff with you, oh Abdullah ibn Unays."When he left with the staff and went to the people, they asked him, "What is this staff?"
Abdullah رضي الله عنه replied, "Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم gave it to me to keep with me."
They urged him to return to Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم and ask him the reason for the staff. When he reached Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, he asked, "Oh Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, why have you given me this staff?"
Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, "It is a token between you and me on the day of Qiyaamah because on that day, there will be few people carrying staffs. (Few people with the support of their good deeds.)
Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Unays رضي الله عنه tied the staff to his sword and it remained with him for his entire life. When he passed away, he instructed that it be included in his kafn and buried with him. What a fortunate Sahaabi!
