Falling in love with Sahabah رضي الله عنهم💫

Sayyidina Aasim bin Thabit رضي الله عنه

A wail, fraught with agonising grief echoed through the streets of Makkah.
A woman driven by hysteria cried out,
"By Laat and Uzza, this pain will never subside, my eyes will never become dry until the killer of my  sons is slain!"

She swore that she would  handsomely reward  hundred camels to the one who brought him to her, dead or or alive.
She vowed that she would drink wine from the hollow of his skull...
She said this, the flames of rage and vengeance blazing in her heart. Nothing would quell this inferno but the assurance of his death.
She said this because on her frantic search for her two sons after the battle of Uhud, she had stumbled upon the corpse of one and found the other in the pangs of death.
She rushed towards his pitiable state and placed his head upon her lap. She wiped the blood from his wounds and pressed, "who did this to you,
Who killed your brother, my son? Speak!"
The boy struggled to form words.
But with great difficulty he managed to utter, "Aasim....bin... Thabit."
and then he let out his final breath of life and was counted amongst the 70 slain mushrikeen.
Her name was Sulafa bint Saeed
And little did she know that the personality whose blood she sought enjoyed a lofty status in the heavens. He was a friend of Allah and know well that none will ever be capable of endangering the friend of the owner of the worlds.

Allow me to relate to you the tale of this noble companion.
His name was Aasim bin Thabit bin Abi Aqlah رضي الله عنه
He is the hero whom Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم
Extolled:
من قاتل فليقاتل كما يقاتل عاصم بن ثابت
_"Whosoever fights should fight (gallantly) as Aasim bin Thabit."_
He was one of the fourteen sahaba who selflessly acted as a human shield before Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم in the battle of Uhud.

In the year 4 A.H , some members of the Adak and Qaarah tribes appeared before Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم requesting him to send a few of Islam's men to teach their people Quran and the regulations of Deen.
Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم sent ten sahaba along with them and appointed Aasim bin thabit رضي الله عنه as their Ameer.
When these sahaba reached Raj'i, located between Makkah and Asfaan, these tribesmen acted treacherously and alerted the Banu Lihyan tribe.
Marshalling 200 warriors, including 100 archers, the Banu Lihyan set out in pursuit of this humble band of 10.
On their approach, Aasim رضي الله عنه and his companions clambered up a hillock and heard the call of the Banu Lihyan, _"Come down, we promise you refuge and sanctuary."_
Aasim رضي الله عنه replied, _"I will never accept the sanctuary of a disbeliever."_
He then made dua to Allah to inform Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم about their plight which Allah enlightened Rasulullah of through wahi.

With great determination, Aasim رضي الله عنه and his companions decided to combat the Banu Lihyan despite their weak number, for verily, large armies need not denote victory and these pure souls desired nothing more than the pleasure of Allah and martyrdom in His path.
Aasim drew his sword and fervently prayed, _"Oh Allah, today I am safeguarding and defending  your Deen. I beg you to safeguard my flesh and bones (from the disbelievers)and let no enemy gain power over it."_
They fought, elevating and protecting the banner of Islam with Allah as their sole helper.
They fought, fire in their lungs and ferocity in their weapons.
Swords clashed.
Blood flowed.
And ultimately, victory was still theirs, for Allah ta'ala called their souls to Him and fulfilled their desire for martyrdom.
Of these ten Sahaba, seven were made shuhada and three were captured(and eventually executed.)

As His pristine body lay peacefully on an earth which  absorbed the musk streaks of his blood, some people from the Huzail tribe desired to receive the prize promised by Sulafa.
They greedily approached Aasim رضي الله عنه and Allah ta'ala dispatched HIS army, a swarm of wasps to encircle his body, inhibiting their access to his blessed head. They tried again and again, attracting painful stings to every portion of their bodies, from the heavenly swarm.
Exasperated and exhausted, they resolved to come back later. Perhaps the wasps would disappear when the sun sets.
As nightfall slipped her curtain down, dense clouds clung to the sky.
The horizon thundered and roared, pouring down rain in torrents.
The rain cleansed the surfaces of the earth and the plot of the Huzail had been thwarted by the miraculous deluge.
They had searched far and wide for the body of Aasim رضي الله عنه but to no avail.
The flood  swept his body away to a location only known to Allah.

Whenever Aasim رضي الله عنه was mentioned in the presence of Umar رضي الله عنه he would comment,
_"Allah protects some of his special servants even after their death as he protected them during their lifetime."_

He was named Aasim- one who protects(the Deen of Allah) and in living up to the definition of his name he became Ma'soom(one who is protected).
How beautifully Allah had responded to the plea of Aasim رضي الله عنه by safeguarding his virtuous body from the mutilation of the disbelievers.
