After a while of the five sitting there and chatting away, Scott groans and puts his head in his hand. The girl next to him watched with concern, placing a hand on his arm.
"I can take it away again, just for until we get back to the school." She watched him making sure he was okay. He shook his head but didn't answer keeping his head down. "We'll meet you guys at the car, come on."
She grabbed her things looking at her other three friends, standing up with Scott following after her. Once they were standing at the car, Scott dropped her hand as she opened and sat her things in the trunk.
"I'm okay, Dal, promise. I just got a headache this time." Scott says, finally looking up at her and not his feet.
"I don't understand, it should've lasted until we got back to the school, what happened?" She asks closing the trunk and lifting herself onto the lid.
"There were people talking about you and the girls. That same group started laughing at Kurt because he's blue and has a tail when we walked past them. It was starting to piss me off and probably made my mutation come back faster than usual. You of all people know how I can get about my friends."
Friends. That rang through her head on repeat more than anything. She nodded her head at his words and looked at the ground in front of her.
"Yeah, I remember." She mumbled.
Scott realized what he said and grabbed her hand. She tried pulling it away as he stepped closer to her. "Dali, that's not what I meant." He tried saving it but was struggling to find the words to say to her.
"Just save it, Summers." She got down from the trunk and walked away from him only for Scott to grab her hand and pull her back to him. "I don't want to hear it Scott, seriously. Besides, whatever this is, should probably be stopped before someone really gets their feelings hurt."
"That's not what I meant, Dallas." Scott says sternly grabbing onto her hand once more. "I just don't know how to put this without sounding like a dick, at least, that's what Alex says every time I talk to him about it."
She tried to push him away again but he pulled her closer to him. They were pressed chest to chest and Dallas could feel his warm breath on her face as he looked down at her.
"I'm serious, Dallas. I don't think you know just how jealous of my brother I was just because he got to see you all the time. The day you left I told you I loved you leaving your backyard, remember?"
She did. That day replayed in her head all the time, for more reasons than one.
"I've always loved you Dal, pretty much since the day we met. When I found out you left without saying goodbye, it broke my tiny heart because I thought I did something wrong for you just to up and leave without any word." Scott looked her dead in the eyes. "I don't think you realize all the hell you truly put me through, Jameson."
He craned his head down, kissing her lightly. Dallas wanted to push him away, still not being happy with his earlier comment, but she just melted into Scott's hold he had on her. Without noticing their friends had left the mall and walked up to the car, Jubilee let out a wolf whistle making the two step away from one another, faces burning crimson. Dallas said nothing as she got in the back seat sitting with the girls while Kurt sat up front with Scott.
Jubilee poked Dallas' side when she sat down making Dallas slap her hand away. Scott started up the car and they left the parking lot making their way back to the X-Mansion. They had the radio on and a song Dallas played in her room sprung through the speakers. She reached up through the front seats and turned the dial up.
