Uh oh

Lola's POV

"Are you nuts ?" Leighton said in shock after I mentioned my conversation with Detective Manning.

I know it's nuts what I'm about to do but I was so tired of running. Detective Manning and the cops will make sure nothing happens to me. But so many variables could go wrong.

"Lola, this guy murdered your parents ! Are you sure you want to poke the bear ?" Leighton went on.

Detective Manning like Leighton tried their absolute hardest to talk me out of using myself as bait. But I have to do this.

"If I leave, he will just hunt me down again and kill me. I can't let him run my life." I said. "He will pay for what he did to my parents."

"Does Ashton know about your crazy plan ?" She asked. "Because I'm pretty sure if he did he'd never allow you to do this !"

I hadn't told him yet...but I knew she was right. This plan was crazy, but no one had the nightmares I had for months about my parents deaths. This wouldn't end unless he did.

"I know this is crazy Leigh, but I have to stop him." I said. "I will tell him soon. Just trying to figure out a plan to lurer Vega out."

Detective Manning said he'd attack when we least expect it. He's smart and see a trap a mile away. He was a professional hit man and I knew this would be hard to execute.

"Your my best friend Lo, I don't wanna plan your funeral." Leighton said. "Please be careful."

Later that day I walked along the beach, my feet sinking into the sand as I did so. The waves crashing onto each other made the scene so peaceful despite the fact my mind was racing with thoughts of what ifs.

What if the plan didn't work ?

What if he succeeded in trapping me when I'm at my most vulnerable ?

What if I died and all of this was for nothing ?

I couldn't think like that. But the thoughts crossed my mind. I nearly shrieked when a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist. Lips kissed the skin behind my ear and I relaxed.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." Ashton said sheepishly.

I turned myself around and gave him the biggest hug I think I had ever given him. He hugged back, his arms wrapped around my lower back.

"What's wrong ?" He asked concern laced in his voice.

His hands went up to cradle my face, forcing me to look up at him. I stared into his eyes getting lost in them almost.

"The man who killed my parents. He's here." I said.

Ashton's widened and he looked around to make sure no one was watching us. I found his hands and pulled him closer to me.

"Not here with us, but he is in the city. I saw him taking photos of me and Leigh before I told her and you the truth." I added, should I be telling him my plan ?

"Then you're not safe here ! You have to get out before he try's something !" Ashton said, I looked down at the sand at my feet.

"I'm not running anymore, Ashton. I need to stop him once and for all." I said. "I got a plan to hopefully get him out of hiding so the cops can arrest him. Unfortunately that involves me putting myself in danger.."

He looked at me like I was crazy. Well to be honest, I did lose my mind partially after my parents were killed. No one comes out of a traumatic experience like that unscathed. It least Not In The Same Way.

"Lola, you can't use yourself as bait to draw out a killer ! You could get yourself killed and I will not lose you in that way." He said, I knew he cared but I couldn't let him get caught up in this.

"You don't understand, I have to." I said. "If I run again he will just chase me until he eventually kills me for what I saw."

Like Leighton, he looked conflicted and I understood why. Did I want to be putting myself at risk ? No but what other choice do I have ?

"Can you take me home ?" I asked just wanting to get out of there. "It's getting cold out here.."

Ashton nodded his head and laced his fingers in mine as we walked off the beach. It was practically empty besides the two of us. Until I heard his voice.

"Aww isn't this sweet. Little Miss Snitch has a boyfriend."

I froze, stopping Ashton in his tracks. I slowly turned around and saw Vega standing only a few feet away. I could feel my legs wanting to buckle from underneath me but I kept my balance.

"Vega.." I half whispered.

Vega smiled, the glint of his gun shining in the sunset.

"The one and only, Ellie." Vega said.
