It's over

Lola's POV

Bang

The gun went off and a bullet ripped into Vega's chest, he gasphed as he looked down at his chest. Blood started coming out as he fell to the ground.

I stood there, in complete shock as the gun slipped from my grip. Sirens could be heard coming closer as Leighton pulled me in for a hug. I held tight as the tears came out.

"Did I kill him ?" I asked in shock. "Did I really ?"

Leighton hugged me tighter, shhhing me as I tried to calm down.

"He can't hurt you anymore." Leigh replied, she pulled away and made me look up at her. "You saved me and you stopped a murderer. Don't ever feel guilty ok ?"

I quickly nodded my head and walked towards Vega's motionless body. I kicked his body and he remained still, his eyes were open but no life was left in them.

We both walked away from his body and made our way towards the sirens. The moment our feet landed on the road, a cop car squealed to a stop. 2 officers came out and asked if we were ok.

"He's back there, dead." I said, one of the cops went off in the direction I pointed while the other tried to get more information from us.

Another set of cars came into view, one I recognized to be Detective Manning's car. The moment the car stopped I rushed off towards it and right into Ashton's arms the moment he got out of the car.

Ashton's POV

The moment Lola rushed into my arms was the best feeling ever. I hugged her tight as Manning and Leigh came up to us.

"Are you okay ?" Detective Manning asked Lola and Leighton.

"We're okay." Leighton responded. "Vega however is dead."

He was dead ? Detective Manning took Leighton by the arm and they walked off a bit to talk about what happened I'm assuming.

"Lola." I said softly. "Are you okay ?"

She pulled away and looked up at me, her cheeks were tear stained but she wasn't shaking as much as she was before.

"I killed him." Lola said. "It's over. It's finally over."

I cupped the side of her face as she smiled through the tears. We turned around to see a cop come out from the woods.

"Sheriff she was right. Vega is dead." The cop said.

"Call in the coroner." The Sheriff said.

I could feel Lola sigh in relief as she turned back to me.

"I'm sorry." She said. "I'm sorry I left without telling you.."

I shushed her and pulled her into my arms again. I didn't care that she left, I was just glad she was back.

"It's forgotten. I'm just glad you're okay." I replied.

"I love you." She said as she looked at me, I smiled and kissed her softly.

"I love you so much." I said and we kissed again.

Lola's POV

I sat on the back of a ambulance as a paramedic checked me and Leighton out for injuries. It was finally over. Vega was dead.

The coroners came out of the woods with a body bag on a stretcher. Detective Manning was over with the Sheriff talking.

"Hey." Leighton said as I looked at her. "You okay ?"

I smiled and nodded my head.

"Yeah. I think I will be." I replied.

"What are you gonna do now that he's gone ?" Leigh asked. "I know you must miss home."

I smiled and laughed, I did miss Chicago but I'm not sure if I wanted to go back.

"I don't know yet." I said simply. "But I will let you know when it's time."

Leighton nodded her head and we hugged. The Paramedic told us Leigh had to go the hospital to make sure whatever Vega gave her wouldn't hurt her.

"Will you be ok by yourself ?" I asked as Leigh got in the ambulance.

"Yeah. Besides I think someone is waiting for you." She smiled as the doors closed and the ambulance took off.

I turned around and saw Ashton standing there, I walked towards him and wrapped my arms around him.

"How are you doing ?" Detective Manning asked coming up to us.

"I just want to put this behind me." I said. "Vega took so much from me and I'm not about spend another moment thinking about him."

"I don't blame you. I notified your Aunt and Uncle back in Chicago that you're alright. They're really anxious to see you." Manning added.

I nodded my head, I knew I had things back there to settle so I could move on.

"Lola won't get in trouble for shooting the bastard will she ?" Ashton asked.

"No. It was self defense. Just focus on getting your life back together." Manning said.

A week later...

I stood in front of my Parents graves, it was the first time I had visited them since this whole situation started.

I placed flowers on their grave and stood up, staring up at the clear sky.

"He's gone. It's finally over." I smiled. "I wish we could've saved you guys too but, I'm okay now. Life is great. I met someone, you would love him. Anyways I miss you and I will always love you."

Ashton came up beside me and took my hand in his.

"Do you think they like me ?" He asked and I chuckled.

"I think they'd approve." I said.

We stood there for a while before we took off.

"So what's next for you ?" Ashton asked.

I knew exactly what I was going to do next. Live every moment like it was my last. No regrets.

"I don't know what the future holds, but what I do know is that I want to spend it with you." I replied.

He pulled me close and we kissed passionately. Two butterflies flew around us as we pulled apart. I knew that was a sign from my Parents that everything was going to be fine.

He held out his hand for me to take.

"You ready ?" He asked, I took his hand and smiled.

"I've never been more in my life." I said.
