The final battle

Lola's POV

  Vega was currently holding a loaded gun at me and Leighton. That's when Leigh decided to sober up and her eyes immediately widened as she realized the situation we are in.

"Oh you're finally awake." Vega sneered. "I was hoping you'd wake up so you can watch what I'm about to do."

Leighton looked at me as she stood on her own feet. Her posture was shaking more than ever and I tried my best to comfort her.

"You don't have to do this Vega." I said carefully as I discreetly unlocked my phone from my pocket and hit a random contact. "Just leave and you won't get caught."

Vega laughed harshly as he waved the gun around. I could feel someone's muffled voice talking in my pocket.

"It's too late for that now kid ! Vega never leaves any witnesses." He spat. "What would my clients think if I let one go ?"

Ashton's POV

" That's the fifth place we looked. We have to be getting closer." Manning said, trying to sound hopeful.

That's when my phone started to vibrate and I checked the caller id and it was Lola ! I hit the green button and put the phone to my ear.

"Lola ? Lola are you there ?" I asked and the other end sounded like it was muffled by something.

Detective Manning looked at me and I mouthed it was Lola. She immediately stopped the car. I could hear voices talking as I tried to make it out.

"Just leave and you won't get caught."

That was Lola ! I knew that voice anywhere.

"It's too late for that now kid ! Vega never leaves any witnesses. What would my clients think of I let one go ?

That I could tell was that bastard. We needed to figure out where she was at.

"What's going on ?" Manning asked.

"Lola and Vega are arguing." I replied with worry in my voice. "I think he has a gun."

Detective Manning motioned for me to hand her my phone. I slowly handed it to her and she pulled up Find My IPhone and the map showed her exact location.

"We got to get there quick." She said handing me my phone. "Keep listening it will help us keep up to date with the situation."

Manning dialed her phone as she started driving again.

"Manning here, I'm sending you a address and I need backup to that location ASAP. We have a hostage situation in progress." She barked into the phone. "We're on our way now."

"What's the plan to save Lola and her friend ?" I asked.

"Once we get there, we will know." She replied.

Hold on Lola. Please stay alive.

Lola's POV

"Don't you get tired of killing people ?" I asked, trying to keep the conversation going. "What's wrong with a normal job ?"

Vega glared at me. He lowered his gun slightly as my hand tightened on the knife in my sleeve. I had to do something soon and fast.

"Are you trying to appeal to my humanity ? Because I can assure you that part of me died the moment I killed for the first time." Vega sneered.

"You're sick !" Leighton spat and I gave her a warning look.

"Why thank you ! If you called me anything kind, I'd probably blow my brains out !" He said sarcastically. "God you're just as much a nuisance as Ellie here is or do you not go by that name anymore, Lola ?"

I glared at him as I noticed a bucket of dirty water a few inches from Leighton. I gave her the look I always gave her when I was up to something and she nodded her head.

"Hey ! No secret language ladies !" Vega demanded. "You're suppose to be begging for your lives."

I stepped closer to Vega and glared at him harshly. I noticed a tattoo on his arm, it was a name. Karen. Did that name mean anything to him ?

"Who's Karen ?" I asked, Vega seemed taken aback by my question. "Did she mean something to you ?"

"Why do you care ?" He demanded. "Don't take another step forward."

I stepped closer, knowing I struck a nerve. He was vulnerable. I watched his gun carefully as I held my hands up in front of me.

"Was she a sister ?, Girlfriend ? Or maybe your Mother ?" I continued and I saw in the corner of my eye Leighton going for the bucket.

"Oh what the hell you won't tell anyone. She was my Mother. You want to guess what happened to her ?" Vega said, venom laced in his voice.

I shook my head and Vega laughed harshly. He turned around shaking his head.

"She was raped and murdered by the Mafia." He spat. "And I saw them do it. And you wanna know what they did ?"

I gave Leighton a nod and she slowly started to approach Vega who still had his back to us. I pulled out my knife and followed her lead.

"They raped me too !" He spat, still not turning around. "And I hunted each and everyone of them down when I grew up and now who's the pussy now ?"

"That doesn't excuse your behavior." I said. "But you know what ?"

Then I made my move, as he turned around I slashed my knife at his gun wielding arm and he cried out as the gun fell. Before he could recover, Leighton flung the content of the bucket right in Vega's face.

I grabbed the gun and Leighton's hand as we rushed past Vega and ran up the stairs. Vega's cussing got louder as he came after us.

"Lola ! Where are we going ?" Leighton asked gasping as we rushed out of the cabin.

"As far away as possible." I replied not stopping for a moment.

We ran for what felt like forever, until Leighton tripped on something and face planted onto the ground. I stopped and rushed to her side as I helped her up.

"You really think I will let you get away ?"

We turned around and of course Vega was behind us and he looked very angry. Blood trickled down the arm I had knicked with my knife.

I pulled out the gun and pointed it at him.

"Don't take...another step." I shouted, Leighton cowered behind me as I unclicked the safety.

"You aren't gonna shoot me." He spat. "You don't have the guts."

And so I pulled the trigger.
