Untitled Part 18

Miwa was standing next to Card Capital, together with Misaki, Kamui, Aichi, Reiji, Eiji, Emi, Morikawa, Izaki and Shin. The purple-haired girl was crying with all her might into Shin’s arms, while the others were trying not to look at the entrance of the shop. Lots of people had got together in front of Card Capital, remaining silent, crying, talking shocked or just having their mouth wide open.

"Misaki, calm down… " Shin said, "We need to take people away from here, before it becomes widespread "

Misaki ignored him and kept crying. Shin looked at Miwa.

"Where’s Kai-kun? "

"I called him. He is on the way… "

Misaki’s crying was like someone was scratching his heart with a knife. She was one of his best friends, he hated see her in pain, but she had the right to cry for this.

"Sub-manager… " she managed to say, "Sub-manager is… just tell me who did this! "

She burst into louder crying. Miwa tried not to hear anything, break everything connecting him with his world, when Aichi and Kamui approached him.

"Miwa-kun, are you alright? " Aichi said.

"I don’t think so… sub-manager was an integral part of our lives, and now… "

"That’s true "Kamui said, ready to cry too, "this cat was one of the few things Misaki-san had from her parents…"

Miwa nodded. He looked at the boys.

"Maybe we should cancel the trip for tomorrow. Misaki doesn’t look like it"

"No" Aichi said. "The trip must not be canceled. It is indeed a horrible thing that happened, but maybe Misaki-san needs something to cheer up… to forget for a while, with her friends. "

"He’s right " Kamui agreed.

Miwa sighed

"Ok, I guess we will do it… "

Some minutes later, Miwa saw Kai coming. Kai walked next to the crowd, while he was trying to see what they were watching, and he came next to Miwa.

"What happened…? "

He stopped and saw Misaki crying loudly, with all their friends around her, trying to calm her down.

"Why is Tokura crying? "

"Just look at the entrance of Card Capital… "

Kai tried to get into the crowd. When he made it, he stayed still, shocked, rolled his eyes and his mouth became a straight line.

Who in the world did… this?

In front of the entrance of the shop, there was hanging a big hook from the ‘’Card Capital’’ sign, and on the hook, there was the dead body of Misaki’s cat, Sub-manager. The hook was passing through the abdomen of the cat, whose face looked scared and its mouth was wide opened. The blood was tumbling from the wounds and the eyes. The cat’s feet were broken and the neck too. Kai’s heart was beating fast, he sweated and was ready to vomit. He ran away from the crowd and went back to Miwa.

"Miwa! What was that? Who did this? "

"We don’t know " Miwa said silently "nobody knows. Misaki was ready to open the shop, when she saw this… "

Kai looked at Misaki crying and he felt really sorry. He loved sub-manager too, and he had also lost precious people, so he could understand her pain.

"Will the tomorrow’s trip be canceled? "

"No. We agreed she should cheer up a little, after this. "

The boys stayed silent, when Aichi and Kamui came. Kai hadn’t noticed Aichi was there, but he didn’t care about it this time.

"Kai-kun " he said, "did you see what happened? "

"Yes "

"Isn’t it terrible? Misaki-san is really sad now… "

Kai nodded. Aichi looked shocked too. Aichi’s sister, Emi approached them.

"Aichi " she said, "please, let’s go home! I can’t take it anymore! "

Emi was crying. Kamui was the first one trying to calm her down, but she didn’t even hear him. She was the younger one there, so it was natural to be more sensitive.

"Alright Emi, let’s go home"

Aichi took his little sister from the hand and started walking towards home. Kai looked at Aichi one last time, and he was sure he saw a little grin on his face.

Why is he smiling? …Could he be the one who…?

He looked at Sub-manager’s corpse.

…No. There is no way he would do that…
