Untitled Part 24

"Ren-sama, I’m going to make a coffee and come back, ok? "

Asaka was into Ren’ room. She knew he wouldn’t answer, he was sleeping, but she couldn’t avoid talking to him. She got out of the room to buy a coffee, she was really tired, and she met Tetsu outside the coffee shop.

"Nice to see you, Tetsu! Why aren’t you at the company? " She asked him.

"Well… I wanted to see Ren. I’m worrying for him. Didn’t you hear it from Kai? "

"Hear what? "

"It looks that… Aichi tried to kill Miwa. "

Asaka looked at him surprised. She quickly bought a coffee and approached Tetsu again, who looked miserable.

"How is he now? "

"He is in a hospital, outside of our town. Kai doesn’t want anyone else to know about it, especially Aichi. Damn that kid… he is a murderer! He tried to kill Miwa, Ren and according to Kai, he killed Tokura’s cat."

"Tetsu, you received a threaten message just like Miwa. Shouldn’t you worry about it? "

"I’ll be ok Asaka, that short kid is nothing for me. Let’s go back to Ren now. I want to see him. "

"Asaka! Where is my tee??? " I said loudly.

I was sitting on my couch and watching TV with Tetsu next to me, and we were waiting Asaka to come and give us tee.

"I’m coming, Ren-sama! " She said cheerful.

I was relieved listening to her happy voice. Tetsu was happy too. It was a shining day, and we were gathered together to celebrate out winning at the yesterday’s Vanguard Tournament. Just me, Tetsu and Asaka.

"Here is your tee, Ren-sama, Tetsu. "

Asaka gave me and Tetsu the tee, and she sat next to me to watch the movie. I was staring at the TV, like Asaka and Tetsu, but there was nothing on it, although they were looking at it like it was the movie was playing. But, I was still happy and I was laughing. But the TV had nothing on it. Tetsu stared at me.

"Ren, what will we do with Aichi? "

I stopped laughing and looked at him too.

"What? "

"Don’t you remember? Aichi stabbed you because you tried to make him stop from being stuck to Kai "

I thought he was just saying nonsense. Asaka was staring at me too.

"Tetsu, I don’t understand. We are finally happy here together, watching TV –I guess- without Tournaments, Kai, Aichi, Vanguard… and I am not stab… "

I stopped talking and touched my abdomen. I felt warm blood wetting my hand, and I saw a big wound from knife. The blood was tumbling.

"See, Ren? What will you do now? Aichi will come back for you to finish the job, but you can’t do anything. And Kai won’t be saved. "

I was shivering. I knew there was tumbling blood from me but I didn’t feel any pain. Some tears tickled my cheek.

"No… no… I don’t want to be killed by Aichi, I want to stay with our team, Foo Fighter, forever, and I want to save Kai! How many times will I disappoint him? I have already abandoned him once when I had Psyqualia, and now I will abandon him alone with Aichi? WHY CAN’T I DO ANYTHING RIGHT FOR HIM? HE IS MY BEST FRIEND! "

I stopped crying and I saw Tetsu’s expressionless face, Asaka’s too. Did the feel disappointed by me too? Am I really such a failure?

"I don’t think Kai would ever feel disappointed by you, Ren, both me and Asaka too. We love you. We want to always be with you too. We grew up together. We are one. But I’m asking again… what will you do with Aichi? He is out there, free, killing every person close to Kai. "

I looked down sadly. He was right, Aichi was still free. Kai has already lost his parents, he shouldn’t lose more.

"I will wait until my wounds heal, I will find Aichi and rematch. I will not lose to him again. And I will save Kai and everybody! You too Tetsu are in danger, you’re close to Kai too. You should be careful until I come back. "

Tetsu nodded. I stood up happily and walked around the room, thinking me and Aichi fighting again and me winning. It was such a beautiful vision. Then, I heard Asaka’s voice.

"But, Ren-sama, there is a problem "

I approached her, smiling at her with my usual expression. She seemed ready to cry.

"What is it Asaka? "

She turned her head towards me. Now she was actually crying.

"Aichi is already here, Ren-sama! "

A huge pain and a warm, wet feeling on his chest forced Ren to open his eyes. He was still at the hospital. Asaka and Tetsu were not in there, neither doctors. But the blue-haired boy was sitting next to Ren’s bed, stabbing his knife into the crimson-eyed boy’s chest, while he was laughing silently, showing his teeth.

 "That’s right, that’s right… I should have done this some days before… " Aichi whispered, still laughing.

Ren could only wide open his eyes, cry, and leave his last breath. Before he closes his eyes forever, he heard Aichi’s silent voice next to his ear.

"Bye, bye, Ren-san~ "

In the end, he just couldn’t tell Tetsu, Asaka and Kai in the real life how much he loved them and wanted to stay with them forever.  He whispered their names in his mind, but the only response he took was Aichi’s voice, reminding him that his desire to see his friends one more time impossible, like it was a taboo.

"Ren-sama! I’m back, and Tetsu is with me! " Asaka said cheerful, entering Ren’s room with Tetsu walking behind.

She stopped. Ren’s bed was full of blood and his chest and abdomen gutted, his hands protrude from the bed, his cheek with tears. Tetsu stopped behind her. They both threw their coffees down. Asaka fell down crying, while Tetsu was running towards Ren.

"REN! REN! TALK TO ME, REN!!!!!!!!!!!!! " He screamed.

He was waving Ren’s body, shouting, being drown by his own tears and calling doctors. They finally came and they kicked Tetsu and Asaka outside. They were still crying at the seats.

"Tetsu… " Asaka managed to say "Ren-sama is fine, right? "

Tetsu looked at her. She was still crying, but smiling, that fake smile which didn’t want to admit something.

"Ren-sama is fine, right? He will wake up soon, he… he will talk with us again… we will spend time together… we have scheduled so many places to go… amusement parks, abroad… "

"Asaka… "

"We will win more Vanguards tournaments together, we always do that… we have to save Kai from Aichi, visit Miwa-kun at the hospital… I think Ren-sama will be so sad when he hears it… "

"Asaka, please, stop… "

"And… and… I still haven’t told him how much I love him… do you think he will reject me? "

She burst into tears, into Tetsu’s arms. He cried as well. In the end, doctors didn’t know what happened to Ren, because the cameras had stopped working when the incident happened. They were confused and they said Tetsu and Asaka that they were sorry. But they both knew what had really happened.
