Death By Princess {Complete}

CH 38

When Link and Zelda arrive to his study Zelda opens the door slightly ajar and peers in, ensuring no surprised. Once they are safely in, she takes in the silence in an attempt to tap into even a fraction of that power she harnessed when she electrocuted the guard earlier. All she has to do is ensure her body comes into contact with Gannondorf's and everything should fall into place.

"Link, change of plans," says Zelda after a moment.

"What? Time isn't exactly on our side."

"You have to trust me. You need to go into hiding and allow me to do what I got to do.  I think we will have better luck if I seduce Gannondorf. I'll do my thing and then when I call you, you can finish him off."

Link looks at her. "You seduce him and then I'll finish him off? I hope that was a bad choice of words."

A grin subtle cracks through her stone face for the first time in a while. It doesn't last long though. "I'll seduce him and you kill him."

"What do you plan to do exactly?"

"I think I might have a knew power that I can utilize but in the mean time, hide in that closet. Gannondorf spends a lot of time here, so it won't be long until he arrives."

Link reluctantly listens and it's a good thing he did. He isn't in hiding long when Gannondorf barges into the room.

"Zelda. Jesus. Where the hell did you go?" says Gannondorf. "I thought you wanted to have quick memorial before we went home but you took off."

A memorial. I guess my fears were right, thinks Link.

"I know Dear but I'm totally out of it," she sighs, "I don't know if I'm coming or going. I just had to leave at that moment."

"Yeah," he says sighing as well. Zelda is taken aback by this. She can't recall ever seeing him so defeated before. "Everything else that was important to me before seems so..."

"Irrelevant now?"

He nods.

"How would you feel if we got through this together and move on with our lives?" says Zelda.

"Move on with our lives? How could I?"

"Together. With an ache an our hearts forever. But we will get through it. It's what Elule would want."

Gannondorf draws close to her. Link is watching through the rungs of the of closet door. He isn't sure if this is part of the plan or not but he hopes it is, because it's hard for him to watch. Gannondorf puts his hands around Zelda's waist and he lowers his head to hers.

This is my moment, she thinks. Her hand is trembling. Is she really about to kill her own husband? She hears Elule's voice in her head. Oh yes, indeed, she will kill the man who is responsible for Elule's death and Eli's safety. She reaches her hand up and caresses his neck and centers all of her power into the palm of her hand and--

"What the--?" says Gannondorf pushing Zelda away. "Did you do that?" he says yelling now, rubbing his neck. He takes a couple of steps towards Zelda. With each step, she backs away.

"Did you do that?" he says again but she is unable to respond. He lunges towards Zelda and grabs her upper arm. "How many more lessons do I need to teach you before you get it?!"

By now, Link has seen enough. He bolts through the closet door and unsheathes his sword, pointing it to the back of Gannondorf's neck. Gannondorf knows at the moment what is happening, as he slowly turns around, rolling his eyes.

"I see,"  says Gannondorf. "So you decided to follow in your ancestors footsteps after all. The both you. How disappointing."

"It's over, Gannondorf. You have pushed us both enough," says Link.
