Chapter Four : Sue's POV

   After that whole scene in the cafeteria, I was a bit shaken up. I ran out of the cafeteria without a second glance heading straight for the bathroom. That was so embarassing, I thought to myself as I sat on the toilet with my knees pulled close to my chest.

"Sue ! Sue! Are you in here?" I heard two voices. Unlocking the bathroom door, I saw Jane and Tyler staring at me with worried looks on their faces. "Why did you leave?" Jane asked. She began looking over me as if I had gotten beaten up or something. Taking a deep breath, I answered in a rushed tone.

"Iwasembarrassed, I breathed quickly. It felt like all eyes were on me, and you know I don't like to be the center of attention. Bob needs to grow up and stop acting his shoe size. I don't know why he feels like he has to criticise others to make himself feel better," I rambled. "Tyler, what are you doing in here?" I asked.

"Your my girlfriend and I wanted to make sure you were ok. I had never seen you run so fast, you should be on track," he teased.

"Tyler, you could get in trouble for being in the girls bathroom," Sue warned. "Maybe even expelled, you should go before someone see's you," Sue begin pushing Tyler out. Tyler turned around in one swift motion and kissed her and left her standing there as he bolted out the door without another word.

                              Jane's POV

we left the bathroom and went our separate ways to class, I made it by the skin of my teeth as the bell rang right as I passed the thresh hold. Science has always been my least favorite subject, but its not like its college and I can drop a class and choose another. When I looked at the board and read today's assignment, there was a sinking feeling in my stomach.

"Listen up, Class ! Today, we will be dissecting frogs. Everyone take your coats off and make sure your hair is abouve your shoulders. When you all have put on our gloves, we will be heading over to the lab to begin," Mrs. Achorman added.

As soon as I walked in the lab, I began to get squeamish. Honestly, I don't see how dissecting this filth can help us or prepare us for the workforce, but it is what it is. I guess I'm gonna have to suck it up if I wanna get a grade.

After we all were seated and my classmates horseplaying had dwindled down, the teacher started explaining what we were to do next. "All of you will pair up with a partner and sit at any station. We all looked around, then the class erupted into fits of laughter. Seriously, like we were already sitting down. She must be off her meds again, I chuckled to myself. In the lab, there were black table tops with metal stools to sit on. At each station, there was a frog laying on top of the dissecting tray along with a pair of safety goggles, an apron, dissecting pins, paper towels, scissors and a dissecting needle. I moved the tape to the middle of the table, when I noticed it was off to the edge.

"Are you ok, you seem a lttle squeamish?" Melvin observed. "No. First, these seats are hard, cold and uncomfortable and I don't like touching things like this," I complained. "Really? Not even when you were a kid?" He looked at me like I was weird. "No, I mostly played with dolls and had tea party's with my Dad," I said trying to sit on my hands to warm my bum. Melvin didn't look like he was paying much attention to me anymore, it looked as if his mind was elsewhere. "I saw how you stood up to Bob in the cafeteria today, its like you were a totally different person," he said looking at me waiting for a response.

"What can I say, my mom always told me to stand up for someone if their being bullied. Apparently, she had a bully back in her days, but one day she told herself enough is enough. She stood up to the bully and later they became good friends when she found out what the underlying issue that drew the bully to my mom. Bob is a different type of bully, he bullies others because, he used to be bullied  I heard. You know what they say, believe half what you see and none of what you hear," I finished as soon as the teacher begin.

"Ok Class, usually you would do a project such as this in HighSchool, but would like to prepare you, beforehand. So, when you make it to HighSchool, you will already know what to expect. The object of dissecting a frog is to observe the external and internal structure of frog anatomy. Place your goggles and your apron on and we will begin," she instructed.

By the time lab was over, I felt like I needed a shower. We all filed out of the lab one at a time, gathering our belongings to head to our last class of the day. English, which is my favorite subject. Now that I think about it, maybe I should be an English major instead of going to college for Dentistry. Oh well, I have awhile left to come up with a decision.
