the next morning, the prinicpal came over the intercom with news I thought never could have anticipated. "I am so sorry to inform you all, but we have lost a student near and dear to us. His name is Cooper Daniels, let's have a moment of silence.

                                  <<<<<< Silence >>>>>>

Tears sprung to my eyes and fell like raindrops. My nose ran and I felt all choked up. I had to get out of there, I felt like it was all my fault. Why did I leave him? I banged my hands on my desk, causing everyone to look at me. Immediately, I rose to my feet and dashed out of the classroom.

"Mom, can you come and pick me up?" I whispered into the phone."What's the problem dear?" She asked with concern and worry etched in her voice. "I'll explain everything when you get here," I said as I hung up and placed my phone back in my back pocket. Pacing the hall when suddenly I received a text. Opening it up, my mom messaged me letting me know she was outside.

I had almost made it out the door, until I heard a voice behind me. "Young lady, where do you think your going?" She asked. "I'm leaving, I don't feel too well," I said solemnly. "My mom is right outside, so I'll be on my way," I turned heading for the exit. "Wait ! She stopped me once again. You know the rules and regulations, if a parent is to check a student out, they must come and sign him/her out first," she said speaking with authority.

Pulling my phone back out, I called my mom. "What's taking you so long, I have to get back to work," she spoke impatiently. "Sorry Mom, you have to come sign me out before I leave." "Why didn't you say that in the first place?" she askedthen hung up before I could reply. "She's on her way in," I assured the teacher who stood there as if she had better things to do.

If she wouldn't have stopped me all this could've been avoided," I thought to myself pacing the hall. In the next minute, I saw my mom walking in the building. My mom looked professional and classy with her blue pin-striped suit along with some black heels. "Where do I go to sign you out?" My mom asked me. "The office," I pointed to the small boxed in office.

When my Mom looked up, she noticed the teacher standing there. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Mrs. Duvall, Jane's mother. They shook hands, then she led my mom to the office to sign me out. My mom gave me a pointed look when she came out as if I had done something wrong. "Come on, I only have ten minutes to get you home and get back to work," Jane's Mom said. The two of them got in the car and drove off speeding.

"Now, why am I picking you up? You don't look sick," Lilly observed. "My friend died and I just heard the news over the intercom," Jane mumbled as a new set of tears rolled down her cheek. "Oh honey, I am so sorry. Do you know what happened?" She asked glancing my way before directing her eyes back to the road. "No, the principal just told us that he died and we had a moment of silence," I cried harder.

"Shhh....Shhh, before you make your self sick," Lilly squeezed Jane's shoulder in a comforting manner. Pulling into the driveway she parked, but didn't turn the car off. The only sound was the noise from the engine running. What could have caused this? I sat there trying to figure out what brought him to do this," Jane questioned herself. "I'll be home at five, we can do something to get your mind off this for awhile," Lilly assured pushing my bangs out of my eye.

After saying goodbye to my mom, I walked up to the door and unlocked it. When I made it inside, I took a seat on the couch. The house seemed so empty without my parents. Right now, I really didn't need to be alone. So, I text Sue to see if her and Tyler could walk to my house after lunch. She text back that they could, so I set my phone on the coffee table.

My mom taught me after my grandpa died, that in time of grief you should surround yourself with friends and family. I guess I'll watch TV, until they get here. Grabbing the remote, I flipped through the channels and stopped on the news when I saw what was on the screen. I turned it up, so that I could get a better sense of what was going on.

"Thirteen year old, Cooper Daniels committed suicide in his own home. There seems to have been a bully which drove him to these actions, by the name of Bob Glostner." They flashed a photo of Cooper hanging from a ceiling fan with rope tied around his neck. "Switching over to Paul for the details," A red haired lady said.

Paul read a note that Cooper had written before he took his life. The note had me in tears as the guy Paul read on. I flipped the television off, because it wasn't making anything better. There was a knock at the door and I tried to wipe my face as best as I could before opening the door.

"Hey, how you holding up?" Tyler asked looking me over. He could obviously see I was a total wreck, so he reached out and hugged me. Pulling away, I moved the stray hairs out of my face pushing them behind my ear. "Don't worry, we're in this together and we'll get through it together," Sue said as she lifted my chin up and wiped a few of my tears away.

"Thank you guys, I couldn't have asked for a better set of friends," I said stepping to the side letting the into the house. I don't think my mom will care, after all they're like family. I'm sure she wouldn't want me to be alone, anyway.

"I knowwhat happened to Cooper," I said without looking up. "What?" Sue and Tyler both asked simultaneously. "He committed suicide," I flatly stated. "Howdo you know?" Sue asked. "It was just on the news. He had a rope tied around his neck and the ceiling fan, it was too graphic to watch, so I turned the Tv off," I replied. More tears ran down my face and I could see that Sue and Tyler weren't taking the news too well, but I guess they were trying to be strong for me. We hugged and stayed like that for about five minutes, when we pulled apart I could see tears flowing down their faces, too.
