Chapter 3: Ultrasound

*Jace's P.O.V*

Today was the day of Clary's first ultrasound. I looked over at her and asked, "are you ready to go?"
"Yeah," she stood up, grabbed my hand and left.
We pulled up to the clinic and went inside.
"Hi there! Name please?" The receptionist asked
"Clary Lightwood," she stated
"Ultrasound, right?" The receptionist, Clare, asked.
"Yeah," she smiled and rested her hand on her stomach.
"Alright, you're all set. Go ahead and sit in the waiting room and a doctor will be with you shortly."
"Thank you," I sat down and pulled out my phone.
5 minutes later, our name was called.
"Come with me you guys. Your room is right down the hall."
Clary laid down on the bed, lifted up her shirt and waited for the doctor.
"Sorry for the wait. I had things I needed to prep for a later appointment." She smiled and blushed.
"It's okay," I told her.
"Okay, I'm going to put a gel on your stomach for the ultrasound." Clary nodded and closed her eyes.
"That's cold!" She wined. I laughed and squeezed her fingers.

*Clary's P.O.V*

The nurse put the gel on my stomach and started up the machine. A few minutes later, a picture of our baby was up on the monitor.
"There's your baby," she smiled at Jace and I.
"That's so cool," Jace muttered. I swear I could see the tears running down his face.
"Are you crying?" I teased him.
"Maybe," he stuck his tongue out at me.
"Do you want to know the sex?" The doctor interrupted our charade.
"Yes!" I looked over at Jace, waiting for his approval.
"Sure," he nodded.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Lightwood, you are having a boy. I'm going to go print your pictures for you. I'll be right back." She left and closed the door behind her.
"What do you want to name him?" Jace asked me.
"I honestly have no idea," I said as I wiped the gel off my stomach and stood up. All of a sudden, I felt a little nudge in my belly.
"Woah," I exclaimed.
"What is it?" Jace looked at me with concern in his voice.
"Nothing bad, the baby just kicked."
We got home 20 minutes later. Izzy pounced on me and said, "how did it go?"
"Will you calm down and give me a minute to settle in? The ultrasound was fine," I laughed at her excitement.
"Did you figure out the sex?" Alec asked.
"Yeah. We're having a boy."
"Yay! I get a nephew to spoil!" Izzy left the room muttering to herself.
"...gonna get so much stuff... he's going to be the most spoiled kid around..."
"Don't go too overboard, Isabelle!" Jace hollered after her.
"Don't tell me what to do!" She snapped back.
"Jace, I think I'm ready to collapse for the day."
"I am too." He helped me up and led me to our room where we slept the day away.
