I went on the plane with Charles, Hank, Erik and Logan. When the plane had taken off, I sat next to Charles, not even looking at or speaking to Erik. I was still furious at him for numerous things and thus refused to speak to him. Suddenly, I heard Erik from where he was seated across to me. He was speaking to Charles.

'How did you lose them?'

'The treatment for my spine affects my DNA.'

'You sacrificed your powers so you could walk?' Erik asked, angry. 'Tell me he didn't,' he said, looking over at me. I said nothing.

'I sacrificed my powers so I could sleep,' Charles replied, angry. 'What do you know about it?'

'I've lost my fair share. So has your wife.'

'Dry your eyes, Erik. It doesn't justify what you've done,' I finally spoke, snapping at him.

'You have no idea what I've done.'

'Excuse me, I think I do. You've turned Raven into a monster, not to mention yourself. The mutants that went to be on your side... they were good, honest young people, especially Angel and Raven. People that had never killed before.'

'And if you were sensible, you would have left Charles on that day in Cuba.' I slammed my hand down on the table.

'Don't ever talk like that again! That is my husband, not to mention my best friend. We've been together since Cuba. Don't you dare ever mention that again! Ever.' There was a little bit of silence before Charles spoke.

'I know you took the things that meant most to me, Erik.'

'Well maybe you should have fought harder for them,' Erik snapped. Charles stood, a fire burning behind his eyes.

'If you want a fight, Erik, I will give you a fight!' He stepped forward and grabbed Erik's shirt in his hands, almost yelling.

'Sit down!' Logan yelled, but it was no use. I shook my head.

'Let him come,' Erik spoke softly, but with a commanding tone in his voice.

'You abandoned me! You took her and abandoned me!' Charles shouted.

'Charles! Erik!' I yelled, but the yelling and screaming was no use. We were all angry, Charles, Logan, Erik and I. All angry. Just then Erik started speaking.

'Angel. Azazel. Emma. Banshee. Mutant brothers and sisters, all dead! Countless others experimented on, butchered!' The plane began to go down as my father's anger crushed the sides of the plane.

'Erik!' I heard Hank yell from the cockpit, but again it was no use. Charles fell back onto the seats as Erik's power continued to take a hold of the plane.

'Where were you, Charles? We were supposed to protect them! Where were you when your own people needed you? Hiding! You, Adelaide and Hank! Pretending to be something you're not! You abandoned us all.' The plane kept going down.

'ERIK!' I yelled. He gave me a sideways look, but nothing more. Then the crunching receded and the plane began to level.

'You abandoned us all.' Erik began to cool off and we all resumed our seats. I was cradling my head in my hands, the voices coming back again in full force.

'Please separate,' I said quietly to Charles. He seemed to get the picture and walked away from me and Erik, getting in the cockpit with Hank. I got up and walked to the private room at the back of the plane. As I went down, Erik grabbed my hand.

'Where are you going?'

'Getting rest, Erik. It's been a long day and my head hurts. Night,' I said softly, squeezing his hand, then releasing it and walking towards the bedroom. As I prepared for bed, I heard Logan's voice.

'So you were always an ass-hole.' I let out a slight chuckle at this, but I was exhausted. Sitting on the bed, I took a syringe from my backpack and put it into the vein in my arm, sighing. Closing my eyes, I laid down on the bed, hearing Erik's voice, then Logan's. It was a bit of back and forth until Logan finally spoke. 'You're like me. You're a survivor.' Fully closing my eyes, I withdrew the needle from my arm and fell asleep on the bed.

Charles was sitting in the plane when Erik came towards him, carrying a chess set.

'Fancy a game? It's been a while.'

'I'm not in the mood for games, thank you. Where's my wife?'

'She has a headache. Resting now.' He inclined his head to where I was sleeping on a few of the chairs, across from the two of them. I was taking a rest in the bed, but since then, I had come out onto the seats and was sleeping there. Charles took his jacket and folding it gently, put it under my head. I cracked a small smile and curled up into the blanket, my breathing slightly noisy, but rhythmic. Erik took a glass and poured a drink for himself. 'I haven't had a real sip in ten years,' Erik said softly. Charles didn't reply. Then Erik spoke again. 'I didn't kill the president.'

'The bullet curved, Erik,' Charles retorted.

'Please don't argue, boys,' I mumbled from where I was curled up in the blanket. Erik continued.

'Because I was trying to save him. They took me out before I could.'

'Why would you try and save him?'

'Because he was one of us.' Charles looked up in surprise.

'You must think me so foolish. We've always said they would come after us,' Charles spoke.

'I never imagined they'd use Raven's, or Adelaide's DNA to do it,' he said, looking over at me.

'When did you last see her?' Charles asked.

'The day I left Dallas.'

'And how was she?'

'Strong, driven... loyal.'

'How... how was she?'

'She was... we were... I could see why she meant so much to you. You should be proud of her, Charles. She's out there, fighting for our cause.'

'Your cause. As Adelaide would be too if she had gone with you. The girl I raised, she was not capable of killing.'

'You didn't raise her. You grew up with her. She couldn't stay a little girl forever, that's why she left.'

'She left because you got inside her head,' Charles snapped.

'That's not my power. She made a choice.'

'But now we know where that choice leads, don't we? She's going to murder Trask, with or without Adelaide's help, they're going to capture her, and then they're going to wipe us out.'

'Not if we get to her first,' Erik spoke with a fierce resolve in his voice. 'Not if we change history tomorrow. I'm sorry, Charles. For what happened, I truly am.' Charles looked up with tears in his eyes.

'It's been a while since I've played.'

'I'll go easy on you. Might finally be a fair fight,' Erik said.

'You have the first move.' Erik, using his power, moved a chess piece forward. And the game began.
