In the future (2023)...

'Is everybody okay?' Storm asked. Erik looked down and saw a shard of metal embedded in his abdomen. Grimacing, he pulled it out. Just then, a Sentinel came up behind Storm and stabbed her in the back, then threw her over the side of a cliff. She fell so far, so fast. Dead. The Sentinels made their move on Bishop, and just as they were about to kill him, there came a flash of light and a flash of metal wings. I, Adelaide Lehnsherr, (in my 2023 self) had landed. I fought off the approaching Sentinel who had seen me enter. Using my telekinesis, I made the robot fall apart. Jumping onto another robot's back, I snapped its metal neck with fury burning in my eyes. After I had taken the two of them down, I landed, my wings folding into my back. I ran over to my father, Erik and looped his arm over my shoulder.

'Blink!' I yelled. Bishop tried to protect us, but was soon blown up by the Sentinels. The teleporting mutant came over to Erik and I. 'Get him inside. I'll take care of the rest of them.' Turning to the rest of the incoming Sentinels, I activated my wings and flew, taking them out, hopefully turning the tide of the war. But it might be all in vain.

In the past (1973)....

'I'm probably not supposed to ask this,' Hank said, turning to Logan, 'but in the future, do I make it?'

'No, but we can change that, right?' Hank changed into his beast form and Erik, turning to the Sentinel next to him and I, spoke.

'Do what you were made for.' The Sentinel began to attack Logan and Hank, but Beast leapt on top of the Sentinel and cut its fuel line. Erik used the distraction to locate the safe room where the President and multiple other officials were hiding out. Logan ran after Erik, who was furiously throwing metal bits at Logan to stop him. Logan came closer and closer, but soon Erik found a block with bits of re-bar sticking out of it and began to weave it in and out of Logan.

In the future (2023)...

'Oh, dear God, no,' the older Charles spoke softly, sensing Logan's pain in the past.

In the past (1973)...

When Erik had weaved through the bars, he lifted Logan high up into the air.

'So much for being a survivor,' he said, and threw Logan into the Potomac River. I screamed, but it made no use. Soon after, Erik turned and found the safe-house, pulling it out of the White House and landing it on the lawn in front of him. I pulled apart the door and Erik raised all the guns, turning the security cameras towards him. Then, he began to speak. 'You built these weapons to destroy us. Why? Because you are afraid of our gifts. Because we are different. Humanity has always feared that which is different. Well, I'm here to tell you, to tell the world, you're right to fear us. We are the future.'

In the future (2023)...

I tried to fight the Sentinels, but there were too many. The Sentinels were overwhelming and grabbing one of the other mutants, Colossus, they killed him, ripping him in two. Then they caught Warpath and surrounding him, they burnt him alive until he was nothing. I was one of the only ones left. So few of us. So few. There was no time for wondering if Logan would complete his mission.

In the past (1973)...

'We are the ones who will inherit this earth,' Erik continued, 'and anyone who stands in our way will suffer the same fate as these men you see before you. Today was meant to be a display of your power. Instead I give you a glimpse of the devastation my race can unleash upon yours. Let this be a warning to the world.'

In the future (2023)...

They had caught Sunspot and had killed him now. Dead, like Storm, Warpath... so many. We were losing hope. No time to fear now, I thought, launching myself back into the fight, despite numerous injuries.
