'So, I wake up in my younger body, God knows where? Then what?' Logan asked, laying on the stone table where Kitty was to project him back to the year 1973 to enact their plan.

'You'll need to go to my house and find me. Convince me of all of this. You must get there before Adelaide walks out. That was how she left, how she almost died. If you prevent her from ever going, you can convince her to join you.'

'Won't you be able to just read my mind?'

'I didn't have my powers in 1973. But Adelaide will be able to read your mind. If she comes into contact with you, she'll know you're telling the truth and will be able to convince me. But it won't be easy. Logan, you're going to have to do for me what I once did for you. Lead me, guide me. I was a very different man then. You'll have to be patient with me.'

'Patience isn't my strong suit,' Logan growled.

'You'll need me as well,' Erik said, stepping forward.

'What?'

'After Mystique left Charles, she came with me. And I set her on a dangerous path. A darker path. It's going to take the three of us, you, me and Adelaide, side by side, at a time when we couldn't be further apart.'

'Great. So where do I find you?'

'It's complicated,' Erik answered. Logan laid down on the table and Kitty began to speak to him.

'Basically, your body will go to sleep. While your mind travels back in time. As long as you're back there, past and present will continue to coexist. But once you wake up, whatever you've done will take hold and become history. And for the rest of us, it will be the only history that we know. It will be like the last 50 years never happened. And this world, and this war... the only person who will remember it is you. All right, Logan... I need you to clear your head and to stay as calm as possible.'

'What? What do you mean?'

'If your mind gets rocky, it will be harder for me to hold you... and you could start to slip between past and future.'

'What if I need to get a little rocky?'

'Think peaceful thoughts?'

'Peaceful thoughts... do you have any good news?' Logan asked gruffly.

'Well, you don't really age, so you'll pretty much look the same.'

'You won't have much time in the past,' Charlene said, coming up behind her father. 'The Sentinels will find us. They always do.'

'And this time, we won't be able to run,' Kitty said with a hint of fear in her voice. 'We'll have no escape. This is our last chance.'

'You really think this will work?' Erik asked.

'I have faith in him. It's not him I'm worried about, it's us.'

'We were young... we didn't know any better.'

'We will now,' the Professor announced.

'This might sting a little,' Kitty said to Logan. Bringing her hands to Logan's head, she made the link to his consciousness. Closing his eyes, he screamed and his claws extended out of his hands. Then everything went white.

Westchester. 1973.

It was painful. The constant, daily routine that just made me sink to the floor every night and cry. Seeing Charles with the serum and the alcohol... I just couldn't be in the same room as him for more than 24 hours. He could walk, but it was paid at a price. He lost his telepathy. It was painful to lose the connection between Charles and I and with it, the emotional connection of being married. It was agony. Hank, Charles, Charlene and I... all hiding. The school had been in disrepair and had closed its doors, ever since the war and so many of our mutant brothers and sisters being drafted and taken to Vietnam. I had spent a short time at one of the therapy units, tending to injured soldiers. Ever since I had come home, my nightmares were more persistent than ever. I was constantly in pain and I had begun drinking regularly, as well as taking a serum that Hank made me, which stopped my telepathy at night in order to help me sleep better. I still had nightmares, though. One day, while sweeping the kitchen floor of broken glass from my earlier drinking spree, as well as Charles' drinking, I heard the phone ring. Coming over to the kitchen wall near the door, I picked up the phone.
