Time moved so fast, Zhen Shi has been juggling between taking care of his son, taking care of the Emperor, taking charge of his duties as the Empress of Lang and helping the Emperor govern the nation better.

Prince Zhenzhen is already three years old and so are the other Emperor's children.

Emperor Peng Qi never favoured any of his consorts and concubines again, its not like they didn't try but the Emperor has completely abandoned them and Zhen Shi dared not suggest that the Emperor should visits them out of pity.

Reasons because the last time he told the Emperor to go to them it caused a huge fight between them.

But most importantly, he become greedy and possessive of his lover and don't wish to share him with anyone else .

Empress Dowager Wu Yue had been laying low and planning secretly with consort Xue Ling to take the throne back from her son whom she has again lost control over because of Zhen Shi.

She was so pained, if not that her mushroom son married Zhen Shi, he would have been the perfect puppet for her, so since she can no longer control her son, it was time to get ride of her son and take the crown.

At long last, same faith awaits her son just like she did to her late husband and her first son, one way or the order she must gain control of the throne back.

She used one whole year to plan and set up the perfect plan together with consort Xue Ling.

According to her plan, once her son is poisoned to death and Zhen Shi is found guilty and sentenced to death, she will take back the throne and declare herself the Empress Regent again.

When she becomes the Empress Regent, she will declare consort Xue Ling's son as the crowned prince, then release Minister Ling from prison.

With that she can finally get ride of the thorn in their flesh called Zhen Shi.

All plans was set, the slave whom has been spying on Zhen Shi and reporting to the Empress Dowager was given the poison, this very poison was the one she used to kill her late husband and her first son.

Once taken, the person suddenly falls sick and become weaker and weaker as the day goes by, there is no treatment that can revive the person except the antidote, so the person will continue to dry up till the person finally dies and only her and the former minister of rites knows were the antidote was hidden.

Since the plan to poison the Emperor was already set in motion, all that was left was the perfect timing to poison the Emperor.

On this faithful day, Peng Qi decided to spend his beautiful evening fishing with his Empress since they enjoyed almost everything together, they were inseparable.

While fishing by the pond, Zhen Shi offered the Emperor his favourite tea which was made with fresh corn silk but the Emperor rejected it because he preferred processed herbal tea leaf. After Zhen Shi used seductive tone to plead with the Emperor to at least have a taste of his own, the Emperor could not resist and accepted, he drank it all in one gulp. He found out that the tea was actually very nice. Then Zhen Shi took the Emperor's herbal tea and drank it too.

When fishing, they usually take these teas to help them relax as they throw their hooks into the pond.

After a while, the Emperor requested for more tea, the servant who was sent to poison the Emperor saw this as a good opportunity to add the poison to the Emperor's tea.

Consort Xue Ling made sure to properly instruct the servant to only drop the salt looking white substance into the tea only  when the Emperor demands for a second round.
