We decided to go home and we stopped at the nearest Krispy Kreme to my house. I didn't bother to ask him why, but he left me in the car and told me to wait.
He went back in and our fingers were entwined the whole time he was driving. "So," He said. "Mrs. Young," He said with a smille. "Do you want to go shopping tomorrow?" He finally ended. "All on me." He put my hand up and kissed it while he tapped on the steering wheel repeatedly. It had become a habit of his.
"Of course!" I looked at him. He was on my mind the whole time and randomly said, "I remember the time I asked myself what my purpose here in Owatonna was.." "Because you know, there are 51 states, and I would always think, 'why in lousy old Owatonna?'" I said with a little smile, looking at the road covered in lovely snow.
"Are you having a hard time figuring it out, babe?"
"No," I stopped. "Because I think I just found what."
"What, then?" He asked.
"To meet you, and stay with you for the rest of my life." I said sweetly. The light was red so we were still that time. He looked at me and pulled me in for a quick kiss.
"I can't even find the right words to say." He said. "I feel like I don't even deserve a girl like you, because you're too perfect for me." He added.
I closed my eyes tight shut and squeezed his hand. I pinched my leg and thought to myself, "Is this a dream?" Because it was too good to be true. The light turned green and we went back to my house.
Adam, being the gentleman he is, opened the door for me and went with me inside. It was only 8, so I still have one hour to be with Adam. My dad was watching TV and I said, "hey, dad!"
"Hey, dad!" Adam waved, mocking me with the same tone I used with a huge smile. "I have Krispy Kreme for everyone!" He laid the boxes on our table. Around 6 boxes were there, and my dad said "Sweet! Thank you Adam!" He shook Adam's hand firmly. My mom was smiling at Adam.
"Want to eat dinner here, Adam?" Mom said, smiling sweetly.
"I'm okay, mom. I promised my other mom I'll eat with them tonight" Adam refused politely
"Hey, they're not your parents yet, you silly." I whispered and pinched his nose.
"Don't worry. I told him to call us that." My dad reassured.
"Told you." He put his hands back in his pocket, which I must say is his trademark thing to do, and bid me goodbye.
"Goodbye, dad." Adam said, looking down and brushing his foot onto the tile wall silently.
"Goodbye Adam, tell Joan I'd love to meet her again soon." My dad replied.
"My parents know your parents?" I asked Adam.
"Yes, your dad said they used to go to the same school."
"I mean our dad said." He smiled.
"Ugh, you're too cute."
"Bye, Brielle." He whispered.
I went to the front porch and became curious. "Why do you always whisper when you say sweet things to me?" I laughed.
"Becauuuuse," He said, making the sound "au" long. "Only whispers can tell." He held my hand and squeezed it firmly. "Bye Brielle." He said, for the second time.
I twitched my left eye in exagerration yet still admired him. "Alrighty then. Goodbye, Adam." I waved as he went to his car. I went back in and my dad was there.
"Brielle?" He muted the TV. I took one step backward and faced him.
"Yes?" I said, my heart racing.
"Are you and Adam a... thing?" He said, taking a bite of the caviar donut Adam brought home.
"No, not really." I said.
"Okay."
"But would you let me," "If ever?" I smiled wide.
He looked at me for a while and replied, "Of course, honey." He said.
I gave him a big bear hug with a kiss on the cheek. "We decided to give you the space and freedom you wanted. We thought we were being too tight on you, controlling you, and here it is," He said. "WE never realized that we were being to tight. Your mom and I are sorry." Said dad.
I mouthed the words "Thank you dad" As I went two steps upstairs. "Just don't get yourself hurt." He said.
"If ever." He added. I giggled and shrugged at him and ran back up to my room.
I went back to my outer space styled room, thinking how perfect this day was- because my parents have finally changed- and how perfect will the rest of the days will be, now I've met Adam.
I faded off to sleep after a cold, long day which wasn't for me, even long at all. Every time spent with him feels so fast, feels like I'm travelling in time, his love takes me to a new dimension.
