I stayed for a day in the hospital and my parents brought me home the next day afternoon. We were all watching movie together when the doorbell rang. I looked at the door as my dad opened it for me, and I found Adam, with a big teddy bear, Forever 21 paper bags and a boquet of flowers.
I stared at my dad who clenched his jaws and rolled his fists to a ball, about to hurl Adam a punch. “D-dad,” I stuttered, “I got him.” I pushed my dad gently sideways and held Adam's wrist so he could go away from the doormat, closed the door and sneered at Adam. “Adam please, please leave me alone.”
“Why are you breaking up with me when I loved you with all my heart?”
“I used you, I used you to get rid of the pain my parents have caused me. And now I realized I didn’t really love you. I only used you, okay? Get over it!” I punched his chest weakly and he hugged me, crying. “I won’t stop, Brielle. If I have to visit you everyday here until you change your mind, I will.
“These are for Miranda.” He placed the paper bags on the front porch. Miranda came out, “I heard my name, are these for me?” She inspected the paper bags. Adam wiped his eyes and smiled, “Yeah, go check them out. I’m sorry we couldn’t go to the mall together anymore, so I just bought what I could for you.”
“Awesome! You’re the best brother ever. I’m so thankful you and Bri are together!” She said with excitement forming in her face.
“Miranda, shut up and go in.” I commanded her. She rolled her eyes and hugged Adam, then Adam hugged her back.
“These are for you, Brielle.” He handed me the boquet of flowers. “Thanks!” I dropped them on the floor and trampled on it, “Oops, my bad.” I uttered in a teasing manner.
Adam looked at the crushed Tulips and frowned, “See you tomorrow, I guess.”
It went on and on. Adam would bring different gifts for me each day, and I’d pretend to throw them in the trash, but as soon as he leaves, I stack them in my drawer.
My parents also doesn’t know about it. Mostly, they are away to fix our passports for Los Angeles. Only Miranda does.

Today, Adam stayed on the porch, though it was raining so hard. I leaned myself on the door, my heart wrenching as I hear Adam coughing and sniffing. My conscience just couldn’t take hearing him like that. I opened the door and Adam was all soaked up in rain water. The red tulips got wet, too. He also was holding food from Applebee’s.
“Come in.” I said, not looking at his eyes.
He went in and hugged me very tight. “You’ve gone thinner.” He whispered, “It’s only been 6 days since we last saw each other because you won’t come out, and you’ve drastically gone thinner.” He said with worry. “I got you food.”
“I’m skipping meals,” I said, still avoiding eye contact.
“Why?”
“Because it feels that way, no further questions.” I tossed him a towel from the drawer so he could dry himself up.
“If you skip meals, I’ll skip meals too.” He wiped his face which exposed his forehead, and I saw bruises.
A fresh one on his left eyebrow, his mouth, his cheekbones and a black eye that just started to form. “W-what happened?” I was taken aback.
“I- fell off the stairs.” He quickly covered his face.
Adam’s POV
I was readying to go to Brielle’s house, hoping she’d come out this time. It’s been 6 days and I feel so incomplete.
