Chapter 2

Grian woke up at dawn. There was a slight breeze coming through his doorway, where his front door was supposed to be. He sat up, rubbing his eyes. Its was still dark outside, although the sun was starting to rise. 

How pretty... He thought, staring at the sunrise. He got off his bed, and headed outside. He heard the chirping of the parrots and the grunting of the pandas. Pesky birds, he thought, spotting a few parrots on the tree branches. He took off, and flew towards his base. He spotted the huge mansion, floating on the stone platform. He landed at the front door, almost intimidated by the scale of the mansion. 

"GRIAN!" yelled a voice behind him. Grian jumped, and let a little yelp. He turned around, to find a particular mustached friend. 

"Mumbo? What are you doing here?" He asked, still a little startled. 

"I...uhh...wanted to show you something..." Mumbo said.

"Yeah?" Grian asked, curious. Mumbo held up his hand, right in front of his face. Grian gasped. It started to vibrate. 

"How are you doing that?!" Grian exclaimed, as Mumbo lowered his hand. 

"I don't really know exactly," Mumbo said, "I just woke up and found out I had speed."

"Woahh...that's so weird..." Grian said, awestruck. I wonder if I have any powers...

"I'm gonna go now, so I'll uhh see you later?" Mumbo asked nervously. Grian nodded. 

"Don't tell anyone, please," Mumbo said over his shoulder before he sped off. Grian watched as Mumbo ran off, an orange streak through the jungle. 

Woahh...My friend is a speedster! That's so cool!! Grian thought happily. He felt a little buzz in his pocket. Welp, there goes my phone... He looked at it, seeing a text from Xisuma.

Hey everyone, please meet me at the shopping district immediately.

Huh, that's weird... Grian thought, slightly confused. Guess I gotta go...

"Thanks for meeting me here," X said, with a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

"Why did you want us here?" Iskall asked, impatiently. 

"There's something I want to tell you. There might've been a sudden...awakening...of powers in each of you...And I know this because I created it." X said, "By accident." He added.

"You created it?" Etho said icily. "And do you know how to fix it?"

"I was coming to that," X paused, "I-I don't have a solution to that at the moment." 

"And you're gonna find one, right?" False asked. "Wait, don't tell me, I know you are."

"Of course, you have telepathy." X said.

Woahhh that's so cool! Grian thought, looking at the hermits around him. They all had powers, including himself. If I have powers, how come I can't feel them?

"Alright, sorry for taking a bit of your time. Hopefully I can figure out a solution soon." X said, turning to leave. "You can all leave now," The hermits started to leave, one by one, and Grian went to meet his friends. "Guys! Hey!"

"Hey Grian! What's up?" Iskall said, as he turned to look at him. Mumbo paused too.

"I was wondering if you figured out your powers," Grian asked, 

"Oh heck ya I did! It's hella cool!" Iskall said, puffing out his chest a bit.

"Really? What is it?!"

"Lemme show you!" Iskall seized Grian by the waist, and lifted him up over his head. Grian laughed.

"You have super strength?!" 

"Yep!" He lowered Grian to the ground. "Man, I'm jealous of both of you...I haven't figured out my powers yet..." 

"I'm sure you'll figure them out eventually." Iskall said reassuringly. Mumbo nodded in agreement. 

"Yeah, I hope so," Grian said, slightly disappointed. "I'll see you guys later then," 

"Bye!!" Iskall called after him as he took off. 

Why can't I get these powers to work?? Grian thought, annoyed by his lack of powers. Arghhh I want these powers so badly.... It started to rain, really badly. Arghhhhh now this stupid rain is making my day even worse! He thought angrily, just as he heard thunder. Great, and now thun- Lightning struck right in front of him, making Grian loose his balance. He tumbled downwards, down towards the jungle. He let out a shrilling scream, failing to get back his balance. He crashed down into the foliage beneath him, ripping his clothes and scraping his skin. 

"Oww..." He moaned, as the leaves started to break his fall. He looked at his arms, although they weren't there. 

W-what is happening?? Why can't I see my arms?? O-or legs?? Or anything???? Grian panicked, looking at himself. Then he realized. W-What if this is my power? I-Invisibility? He calmed down a bit, although he was still stuck in a tree. He sat, thinking. 

That's my power...invisibility...
