"GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!" Grian exclaimed to the four others around him.
"Grian, when I said tomorrow I didn't mean 5 am either," Scar said tiredly. Grian shrugged.
"Well, at least we're getting a head start. It would've been better waking up at 12 am, though." He looked at the others, "Although, I was considerate and thought it would be inconvenient for you."
"Um...I think you're forgetting that Impulse might be asleep right now..." Mumbo pointed out. Grian was quiet, staring at him.
"Oh. I...didn't think about that."
"Can we just go?" Scar groaned, "Let's just get this over with so I can sleep." He transformed in a majestic griffin, spreading his wings wide.
"Woahh...I thought you could only become real animals..." Grian said in awe.
"It's called shape-shifting, Grian. Now can we go?"
-----------------------------------
"It's oddly quiet..." Tango said, as the five of them walked into Impulse's base, "Do you think..."
"They already got him?" Grian whispered, "It's possible..."
"I can do a quick check," Mumbo said, "You know, to check for any signs of him."
"I don't think you have to..." Scar said. He pointed at something on the ground, "It's a note." He picked it up, examining the burnt edges and scribbles on the page.
"Wow, I don't think Impulse's handwriting is this bad," Tango remarked, "Almost like he wasn't even writing with his hands..."
"What does it say?" X asked. Tango squinted at the writing, reading it out loud.
"If anyone comes here, I'm not home at the moment. Moving somewhere else to learn how to use my power. Don't want to wreck the place. Impulse." He stared at the note, confused. "What does he mean by that?"
"His power is electricity; I can see why he would leave," X said, "It was pretty harsh when I first got it."
"Huh." Tango shrugged, "Guess that's where the burn marks came from. We should help him."
"Hold on, we don't even know where to look if we wanna find him," Grian said, "Let alone help him."
"Oh, that's easy." X said, "Just look for lightning." They all stared at him.
"And...what do you mean by that?" Mumbo asked.
"Um...what else would I mean? Dark clouds and lightning." X said, crossing his arms, "That's where Impulse is gonna be. Since he doesn't know how his powers work yet, he would most likely be panicking, hence the lightning."
"So his powers are like mine?" Grian asked, "As in they only trigger during adrenaline rushes?"
X nodded. "At first, yes. But when you learn to control it, it can happen when you want it to."
"Woahhh..."
"Uhh can we stay on task?" Scar asked, "All we have to do is look for dark clouds. And Impulse will be there?" X nodded. Grian squealed in excitement.
"Come on then!"
-----------------------------------
"Ack! Sorry!!" Impulse yelled, as the five of them stared at the burn mark on the wall above them.
"Well, I now get what you meant by wreck the place in your note," Grian said, looking back at Impulse. He stared at the sparks of electricity race around his arms, fascinated.
"So, your power...do you know how to use it?" Mumbo asked.
"N-not really, I just want it to go away at this point," Impulse said, his glowing white eyes sparkling, "I just wish someone could help me..."
"WELL! Lucky for you," Tango exclaimed, "There IS someone who can!" He pointed at X. He stared blankly at Tango.
"Wait, what?"
"See, X has all of our powers. And since he's overcome this, he can help you!" Impulse's face lit up.
"YES! I can finally get some help!!" X stared at them, confused.
"I-I dunno..."
"Oh, come on X," Tango pleaded, "Impulse needs help, and you're the only person who can." X was quiet.
"I can try..." He said finally, filling both Tango and Impulse with happiness.
"Thanks, X!"
-----------------------------------
"So all I have to do is stay calm whenever I use my powers?" Impulse asked, rubbing his now non-electrified arms. His eyes were back to normal, back to its chocolate-brown color. X nodded.
"Once you get used to it, I'm sure you won't panic as much as you did now." Impulse laughed.
"I guess I was so set on getting rid of them, I didn't stop to think that I could use them!"
"Aaaanyway," Grian interrupted, "We came here to ask if you wanted to join our group against Snowfall. I don't think we can fight him with only five people. So, that's why we're going to different hermits to recruit them." Impulse thought for a moment.
"Um...well I still have a lot to learn about how to use my power, but I don't see the reason to not join you guys!" Grian's face lit up.
"So you're joining?!" Impulse nodded. Grian's eyes sparkled as he grinned widely. "YES!! We've got Impulse now!!"
-----------------------------------
"Arghh why can't we leave?" Bdubs complained, lying on the ground. Stress touched the invisible barrier Cat had created around them.
"I'm just worried about the plans Snowfall has for us," She said, looking at him, "I hope Flycatcher isn't willing to join him again." Bdubs looked up at her, confused. "Oh, Flycatcher and I talked it out, she's okay with helping us." Bdubs was quiet, staring at the ceiling of icicles. Stress frowned. "Are you okay?"
"If you call trying to not throw up and trying to deal with an unhealthy desire to be in water okay, then yes, I'm fine." Stress's expression changed to a more worried one.
"How long have you felt like that?"
"I dunno, since they brought us here?"
"Why didn't you say anything?!" Stress exclaimed sternly, "What if this is a sign for something bad? What if something terrible happens to you?!"
"Chill out, I'll be fine," Bdubs said, "I bet it's just my power, since it's water. I'll just feel better in water."
"But we need some way to cure your...land sickness!" Stress exclaimed. Bdubs stared at the ceiling for a moment, then sat up suddenly.
"I think I just thought of a way to escape."
