11. Good Things To Come

Magdelena stared at her brother's near lifeless form that was laying at the newly lit fire, she was currently warming up a cloth that she could press to his frosted forehead. Arthur and the knights were speaking in hushed tones, making her worry more.  Knowing what Arthur had meant to do would have been thwarted by Merlin who was now unable to do so, meant that Arthur was the one who was going to sacrifice himself to close the veil something she would never allow to happen.

She stands placing the warm cloth on his forehead as he muttered something, "Mags," Arthur says drawing her attention to him, "Lancelot is going to take Merlin back to Camelot. I want you to go with him."

She stays silent staring at her brother she takes a deep breath and bends down to Merlin, "I am sorry brother," she whispers kissing his forehead as she stands while Percival goes to pick Merlin up to place him on the horse for Lancelot, "I don't want to leave you Arthur, I know what you plan to do."

"Mags," Arthur begins but she glares at him shaking her head, "I have to, for Camelot." Magdelena fell silent, a sharp pain ran through her heart at his words. She watched him for a moment before turning around and walking to Gilthunder two stared at the girl nudging her a few times, "Mags that doesn't meant that you-"

"No. You are King, Camelot must always come first," she says jumping onto her horse not bothering to look at Arthur even though she knew it might be the last time that she ever saw him, "You never have to explain yourself to me."

"Mags don't leave here angry," he pleads grabbing her leg keeping her from leaving on the horse just yet, "I don't want the last memory of you to be you mad at me."

"The wrong thing to say Princess," Gwaine says from behind them as the Knights watch on in both horror and intreats.

"Last memory?" she growls at him glaring down at him harshly, "Last memory Arthur are you serious right now? You are planning on killing yourself! How can I possibly be alright with that? I love you and you are just so willing to sacrifice yourself without giving me or even us a single thought."

Arthur's face fell as he went to explain, "Mags I-"

"Let's go Lancelot," she says turning Gilthunder to walk with Lancelot who was on the horse holding the reigns of the horse which held Merlin, who seemed to be mumbling; not wanting to leave the soon to be dead King.

'Primera, you should bring your brother to the stream over there,' she hears Gilthunder tell her making her look down at her horse confused but agrees as she turns to relay her idea to the knight who was slightly behind her. Lancelot dismounts his horse and then carefully pulls Merlin off of his horse as well.

"Put him close to the water," she says Lancelot doesn't question her but seems to be confused, probably just as confused as she was. Merlin puts his hand to the water and something shimmers through Merlin's skin.

"Lancelot. Primera," the voice as soft like the wind as it spoke their names, they watched as drops of water began to rise from the stream. Magdelena smiled at the sight of the magical creatures, "Lancelot. Primera."

Magdelena bends down next to Lancelot who seemed in shock as the female face in the water took shape, "We bear you no harm. We wish only to help."

"Vilia," whispers Magdelena her shock wearing off as she realizes who they were.

"What are you?"

"We are Vilia, spirits of the brooks and streams," the Vilia says softly, "The tear in the veil has upset the balance of the world. Good spirits as well as bad roam freely. But this perilous state cannot continue for long"

"King Arthur is riding to the Isle of the Blessed," at the sound of his name Magdelena feels her stomach drop, "He intends to heal the veil."

"He will need help. From all three of you."

"Merlin is sick. We need to get him to Camelot," Lancelot says motioning to the man who was laying beside them.

"Merlin is stronger than you give him credit for," the Vilia says a small almost unnoticeable smile grows on her face, "The young warlock has great power and a future that has been written since the dawn of time. Do not worry. Even now, my sisters begin to heal him."

The two bent down by the water turn to look at Merlin who was now glowing with the healing magic of the Vilia, "You are tired. You must rest," Lancelot looks like he was about to argue but a hand on his should silences him, "We will stay with you and protect you through the night."

Lancelot and Magdelena watch the water that had risen from the water was now tiny yet bright lights dancing around about their heads. Magdelena watched Lancelot go lay down, falling a sleep not long after he was comfortable as he could get.

"It is an honor to meet you Primera," the figure in the water says making Magdelena look down smiling at the female face, "I am surprised to see you here and not with the King."

"I am just as surprised to be honest, we argued about a rather pointless thing before we raced off," she admits sadly, "I cannot let my brother or Arthur die."

"There are ways to go about closing the veil without anyone dying," the creature says making Magdelena's heart swell with hope, she leaned forward, getting closer to the creature who was currently holding the promise of a solution, "I could tell you but it would be a great sacrifice on your part and a painful process to go through with."

"Tell me please," Magdelena pleads with the creature who nods her head before explaining what Magdelena could do to save everyone and close the veil to the other world.
