Sky POV

My name is Skylar Lily Hardwick but most people call me Sky and I'm fifteen years old. I spend most of my time with my mom and her husband. My parents got divorced when I was five and my mom remarried when I was ten then when I was eleven, she got pregnant with my baby brother.

"Good morning mom," I said entering the kitchen finding my mom making pancakes.

"Good morning baby," she said warmly as she flipped a pancake with her back facing me.

My mom, formally known as Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter is the CEO of her own fashion company. Her husband, Shawn Corey Carter is the owner of a record label called Roc Nation.

"Call your brother and sister for me baby," she said.

I got out of my seat and stood at the bottom of the stairs. "David! Samantha! Breakfast!" I yelled and went back to my seat and my mom came and hit me upside the head.

"Don't be yelling in my house," she spat.

I shrugged. "I called them, that's all," I said innocently.

I heard large footsteps moving down the stairs and in came Shawn.

"Good morning Sky," he said playfully punching my arm.

"What up player," I said in the most gangsta why I could possibility say. He looked at me and just chuckled.

He went over and hugged mom from the back and kissed her neck. "Good morning my queen," he said turning her around such that she's facing him.

She smiled and pecked his lips. "Good morning my king," she said warmly.

Those two are so cute when they act like that. You can see that they are both in love with each other.

My mom loved my dad but I'm not so sure if he loved her back. Shawn on the other hand, he's head over heels in love with mom.

Sam POV

My name is Samantha Sharon Hardwick but most people call me Sam or Sammy and I'm fifteen. I spend most of my time with my mom and her husband.

I felt weight on my body. "Wakey wakey Sammy," I heard a tiny voice say.

"Five more minutes," I whined as I pulled my bedcovers over my head.

"I'm tewing mommy that you don't wanna go wakey," I heard.

My eyes immediately shot open and I flung my bedcovers to the side.

"I'm up," I said as I sat up. I looked to my side and my brother was looking at me, giving me that cute smile of his. "Hey Dave," I cooed as I slightly pinched his cheek.

He came and straddled my lap then laid his head on my chest. "Let's go downstairs and have bweakfast," he said in his baby voice.

"Where's Sky?" I asked rubbing his back.

He sighed and looked at me. "She's alweady up."

I picked him up and placed him on my hip then we went downstairs.

"Buenos días familia," I said entering the kitchen.

"Daddy," Dave said excitedly with his arms out, looking at Shawn. Shawn came and picked him up.

Mom came to me and kissed my cheek. "Morning baby," she said then she handed me my plate.

"What's popping twinny," I said to Sky as we did our handshake.

We all sat in the kitchen and had breakfast. Sky and I helped mom clean up the kitchen.

"Mom, when is dad coming to pick us up for our father-daughter day?" I asked as I placed the plates in the cabinet.

"I don't know baby. He hasn't called yet," she said. "Typical Omari," she said under her breath.

I don't care what mom thinks of dad, he's still an amazing man. He's just busy with work that's all. It ain't easy being the marketing manager of a multimillion dollar company.

"Where is he?" Sky said pacing up and down as we stood on the porch still waiting for dad.

"Sit your ass down. He's probably on his way," I said pulling her down.

She sighed and looked at her wrist watch. "Its now 6:30 p.m. and he's still not here. I think he ain't coming," she said anxiously.

"Don't be so melodramatic. Sit your ass down and calm the fuck down," I said nonchalantly.

I have faith in my dad. At the end of the day he is a busy man.

I heard the door behind me open. "Hey guys. Your mom said you should get inside because its starting to get cold."

"Don't mind if I do," Sky said picking up her bags and going back inside.

I just sat there. Shawn then came and sat next to me. "Let's go inside kido. You'll catch a cold out here," he said lowly.

I just rolled my eyes because I know he's gonna call mom if I don't go inside. I don't have time to hear her blabber.

"Fine," I said and I took my bags inside.

I went over and plopped down on the living room couch.

"Why Sammy sad and not go smily?" Dave said as he came and sat down next to me with his popsicle.

I looked at him. "Mom is gonna kill you. That popsicle is gonna spoil your appetite," I said slightly chuckling.

He looked down at his popsicle and continued slurping it all out. "What mommy doesn't know won't hurt her," he said shrugging and continued to slurp his popsicle.

I heard mumbling behind me so I turned and it looked like mom is on face time with someone. She looked really pissed. She came to me. "Here, your father is on the other line," she said handing me her phone then she turned and looked at Dave. "David Jayson Carter! I know that's not a popsicle you're having!" She yelled.

I knew that little trouble maker ain't gonna get away with murder.

I called Sky to come sit next to me so that we can talk with dad on face time.

"Hey daddy," Sky and I said in unison.

"Hey my princesses. Look, I can't make it today,"

"That's cool, you can come and pick us up next week," I said.

He sighed.

"I can't do it. Look, I'm doing business here in Australia for a couple of weeks so you'll be living with your mom for a while and-"

"...Mr Hardwick, they need you back in the boardroom," someone said in the background.

"Talk to you later. Bye," he quickly said and ended the face time.

"That was rude," I said locking mom's phone.

Sky stood up. "If he ain't coming then let me go find Shawn so I can beat his ass in Call of Duty. I'm feeling lucky today," she said rubbing her hands together like some mad scientist.

I went to the kitchen and gave mom her phone back. "I'm sorry baby. Maybe he'll pick y'all up next week," mom said hugging me.

"He said he's in Australia and he wouldn't be back for some weeks," I said looking at her.

She had a puzzle look on her face. "Weeks?" She said. "He told me he'll be back next week and what's this talk about Australia? He said he was visiting his sick cousin in Brazil."

I shrugged. "He told us he was on a business trip plus we heard someone calling him back into a board meeting," I said.

She slightly chuckled. "Lies. One of the reasons we got divorced," she said under her breath. I released from her hug and went back to the living room.

My father is a good guy. Sure, there are times he wouldn't pick us up but he always had a valid reason for it. The man is just trying to build himself an empire. They should cut him some slack and just look at things from his point of view. He's trying here.
