"Arthit, it's been two months already. You're head over heels for that boy. Just tell him." Prem said.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Arthit was pacing in his room, while Bright and Prem sat on his bed.
"Why?"
"Because!" He stopped walking. "There is no use, Prem, I will be rejected." He stated.
"How do you know?"
"I just know, okay? He only hangs out with one person, what's his name, Aim. He doesn't interact with anyone else. Besides, someone like me will never have a chance with someone like him." Arthit said in a low tone.
"What do you mean, someone like you?" Bright asked.
"I'm a nobody. I'm not good in studies, I don't look good, I don't have anything exceptional. He wouldn't even notice me."
"Are you kidding me? Have you seen yourself, Arthit? Girls are crazy for you, you aren't just good looking, you're very handsome. Exceptional, you say? Do you know how many girls would die to hear you sing?"
Arthit finally sat down on his chair. "But he deserves so much better. What if he starts to hate me after I confess?"
"He wouldn't. If anything, he would accept it." Prem said and Bright nodded in agreement.
"I don't even know how to talk to him. Words won't come out." Arthit said worried.
"Why don't you do it in your style? Write a song for him, and then sing it." Bright suggested.
"I'll think about it." He said uncertain.
The door opened, and Kristina walked in with cookies. "What are you boys talking about?" She asked curiously.
"N- nothing! Kristina you're not allowed in here." Arthit said quickly. Kristina placed her hands on her hips.
"We were just discussing this Romeo's not-so-little crush on a boy." Bright stated. Arthit ran to him to cover his mouth. But it was too late. The words were out.
"Oh! The Kongpob boy?" Kristina said, and all three pairs of eyes looked at her in shock.
"You know about him?" Arthit asked astonished.
"What do you take me for? I saw dozens of papers in your room a few days back. I may have gone through those..." She said slowly.
"You saw the letters?!" Arthit was even more shocked.
"Actually..." She bit her lip, shifting on her left foot, drawing circles with her right.
"Spill." Arthit said, his panic rising.
"I may have found info about him." She said, backing away.
"And?"
"I may have put one of your letters in his locker." She said, almost near the door.
"You did what?!" Arthit got up, more panicked than angry. She ran out of the room. Prem and Bright started laughing.
"She really is something. Did the job we've been asking you to do for months." Bright said in between laughs. Arthit's face was red with anger, and his palms were sweaty.
Arthit stayed up the whole night, panicking. He didn't want to disclose it, not like this atleast. The fear of being rejected, was now even more profound. Kongpob was going to hate him for sure. All because of his stupid sister. He was good just secretly admiring Kongpob. He had absolutely no intention of confessing whatsoever, even after his friends had repeatedly asked him to do so. He was done for.
As revenge, he hid all of Kristina's makeup and accessories. The next morning was particularly hard. Kristina couldn't go to school without makeup, and Arthit was not ready to return it to her. Sitting on the breakfast table, Kristina cooked up a plan.
She did the only thing possible.
"Mom, there's something I want to tell you." She said in a sing song voice. Arthit almost choked in his pink milk.
"Kristina noo!" Arthit said with gritted teeth.
"Then give me my makeup." She reasoned.
"I won't." He said determined.
"Mom, Arthitlikesaboyatschool!" She said in a single breath. Mrs. Rojnapat came to sit with them, looking surprised.
"You do?" She asked Arthit. He was about to deny, when Kristina chimed in.
"Yes he does! He writes songs and love letters for him. It's been 2 months." She said excitedly.
"Kristina, you will pay for this." Arthit said with rage.
"What's his name?" His mother asked interested.
"Kongpob Suthiluck." Kristina stated. She did indeed have a lot of knowledge about this boy. It was his brother's first ever crush after all.
"Are you sure?" There was an expression on her face, that Arthit couldn't comprehend.
"Yes!" Kristina said.
"That's a problem." Mrs. Rojnapat said, in a low tone, deep in thought.
"Why?" This time it was Arthit. What could possibly be the problem?
"Your father and I, we know his parents personally. And I'm afraid, we're not on very good terms. His parents are not exactly the best people out there, and amongst our oldest enemies." She stated. Mr. And Mrs. Rojnapat were a part of a big business. They dealt in the black market too, but mostly stayed clean, and out of trouble. They however had a lot of info about the underworld.
"Tell me Oon, do you really like him that much?" She asked him seriously.
Arthit nodded quickly. "I like him a lot, mom. I've never felt this way for anyone else." Arthit said sincerely. It was true. It was his first time feeling like this, and he was certain, that he had a major crush on this boy. He would do anything to get just a glimpse of him. He felt sad thinking their parents didn't get along. He really wanted to get to know Kongpob, maybe just in his dreams.
Mrs. Rojnapat thought for sometime.
"Then I guess it's time to end this." Both Arthit and Kristina looked at her, slightly worried that she may be asking Arthit to forget about Kong. Arthit didn't want it to end. He wanted to keep crushing on Kongpob forever.
"And extend a hand of friendship to our old enemies." Mrs. Rojnapat said thoughtfully.
