Chapter 17

Luke followed Hannah back into the sitting room. The boys were gathere around the xbox. They both sat down on the couch behind the others. Hannah laughed as the boys argued over who was on what team. Daniel couldn’t help but smile as he heard Hannahs laugh, he loved her laugh, it was infectious. Luke watched Daniel carefully as Daniels feelings for Hannah became more obvious to him. Luke questioned himself to how him and none of the other boys had realised Daniel had feelings for Hannah. Maybe someone else knew.

Luke soon snapped out of his daze as Hannahs phone began ringing. She looked at the called ID before exiting the room, it was her Mum. The boys all stopped what they were doing as they turned to watch Hannah leave. As the door closed they all went back to what was going on before. Luke began wondering if Hannah knew about Daniels feelings, they have always been close. He wouldn’t say anything to Hannah, it wasn’t his place, but he decided to get Daniel to tell her himself. It wasn’t long until Hannah returned into the room.

‘My Mum wants me to go home for dinner. Daniel do you want to come now?’ Hannah said whilst turning her attention to Daniel. She smiled at him as an attempt to let him know she told her parents and everything was fine.

All the boys turned to Daniel aswell. ‘Yeah sure, let’s go.’ He smiled.

Beau offered them both a lift, he wanted to go to Maccas and Hannahs was basically on the way. James decided he was going to go home and make a start on his two essays due tomorrow whilst Jai and Luke decided to tag along with their older brother. Hannah and Daniel both grabbed their bags and got into Beaus car wit the others. Beau made Daniel sit in the front to stop arguments between Jai and Luke kicking off. Hannah climbed in the back with the twins as they both cursed Beaus decision.

‘Thanks for the lift.’ Both Hannah and Daniel said in unison to Beau.

Daniel followed Hannah. He knew Hannah had already explained to her parents but he was worried on how they would react to his situation. They walked into the kitchen to see Hannahs parents getting ready to serve up dinner. They gave Daniel a sympathetic smile before telling Hannah to get the bedding for the spare room and giving Daniel a chance to put his bag down.

They didn’t take long and they soon went back downstairs to join her parents for dinner. There was an awkward silence around the table. No-one knew what to say to one another. Daniels cuts and bruises were visible from recent events.

‘I’l find somewhere else to live in a couple of days, I don’t want to over stay my welcome.’ Daniel spoke up.

‘No Daniel stay here for as long as you need to. We want you to stay here. It will be good for Hannah having you around.’ Hannahs Dad said whilst smiling at Daniel. 

Hannahs Dad meant it. Daniel was good for Hannah. Without Daniel around Hannah would be alone seeing as all her other friends abandoned her. Hannahs parents really did love having Daniel around. Daniel knew it. He tried to hide his happiness but failed as his smile grew across his face.

‘We’ll even try and get you into Penola. We know you finish school in 4 months but you may as well finish off your education and get your grades.’ Hannahs Mum joined in smiling at Daniel.

‘Thankyou, it really means a lot.’ Daniel responed, still smiling.

When they finished their dinner Hannah and Daniel went back into Daniels new room. It was quite empty. There was a double bed pushed against one wall. There was a small wardrobe and chest of draws near to the door. The walls were white and had nothing on them. It wasn’t much of a bedroom but it was somewhere Daniel could now call his.

‘How about we put the clothes you have here away now and tomorrow I’ll skip school and we can get the rest of your stuff.’ Hannah suggested to Daniel.

‘Yeah, that sounds good.’ Daniel replied. ‘The boys will probably help so it shouldn’t take too long.’

‘Sounds good. Text them now?’

‘Ok.’ Daniel smiled at Hannah as she began putting his clothes away.

When they finished putting Daniels stuff away they both went into Hannahs room and put on ‘Grease’ and laid on her bed. Daniel had his arms around Hannah, holding her close. It wasn’t long until she had fallen asleep. Daniel admired her beauty before he finally closed his eyes.
