"Have you chosen your gown yet?" Biana asked Sophie as soon as she had picked up the hail from Biana."What?!"
"Honestly Sophie, haven't you been listening to me rant about the ball for the past few months?"
"Um...no, I've been kinda busy. And what ball? I haven't heard about a ball."
Biana sighed. "Every 100 years the Vackers throw a legendary Masquerade ball. I've been waiting for it for so long."
"I'm not going."
"What?? But it only happens every 100 years!!!"
"I am such an awful mess when it comes to gowns and heels. Also, I don't even have a gown yet !"
"Don't worry Sophie, we still have three weeks. There is no way I'm gonna let you not come to the ball."
"I don't kno-"
"SOPHIE ELIZABETH FOSTER!!! YOU ARE COMING TO THE BALL WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!"
"Okay fine, fine."
Biana immediately brightened. "Ok, meet me in Atlantis in half an hour. We are going dress shopping!"
=====Time skip=======
Sophie arrived at Atlantis to see Biana, Linh, and Marella waiting for her. She assumed they needed dresses too.
The four went into the first dress shop and started searching for dresses. Eventually Marella found one she liked.
It was simple and beautifully trailed on the floor. It had a halter neck and a piece of netted silver gems hung around the top of the dress. Marella looked stunning in it and the bright orange shade subtly accented the olive undertones in her skin
"It's so beautiful Marella!" Linn exclaimed when she saw Marella in the dress. "You should totally get it!"
Marella did and they went into the next shop.
In that one they had a huge variety of purple dresses for Biana, and Biana eventually settled on a purplish pink one.
It was an amazing lilac color and looked fit for a princess to wear. The bottom of the puffy dress skimmed the floor beautifully. The sleeves trailed until Biana's elbows and were made of a pale silk. Sophie was sure all the boys would be crushing on Biana the night of the ball.
After everyone had complimented Biana on her dress they bought it and went to the next store.
In the next store Linh found a silver dress that complimented her silver tips.
It was a sparkly silver and modestly skimmed the floor. The top was studded with diamonds and the bottom wasn't that poofy and was light and fluffy like a cloud.
Sophie still hadn't found a dress. They were all much to poofy or to showy.
In the next store Biana handed Sophie a few super fancy dresses to try on. Against her will Sophie changed into one of them and showed everyone.
All of Sophie's friends gasped.
It was an ice blue color and was very poofy and trailed the floor quite a bit. It was an off the shoulder top and had white flowers that elegantly perched on the beautiful dress. Sophie thought it was the prettiest dress she had ever seen.
"You look so beautiful Sophie!" Biana said.
"Isn't this a bit too fancy?"
Marella shook her head. "Not at all. The masquerade ball is super fancy so you are expected to wear very formal and VERY fancy dresses."
Sophie thought for a moment. She wasn't exited to waltz around in such a fancy dress for awhile but maybe wearing something fancy for a night wasn't that bad? And the color definitely did help. Sophie thought of a certain pair of ice blue eyes...the same color as the dress. The same pair of eyes that belonged to one of Sophie's closest friends.
I wonder if Keefe will come to the ball.
Sophie couldn't help but think of how handsome Keefe would look like in a suit...
Wait, what?
THIS WAS NOT THE TIME TO THNK ABOUT BOYS!!!!!!!!
"Alright, I guess I'll wear this."
Biana cheered.
Next they stopped at a mask store and Biana got them all masks she thought would go well with their outfits. Thankfully she (thankfully, Sophie was getting worn out from all the shopping) found all their masks there.
"I think I am going to go back home and rest now." Sophie said.
"Oh please Sophie, you fight the Neverseen and almost die on a daily basis and you can't handle a bit of shopping?" Biana asked.
"She's not wrong Sophie," Linh agreed, "just a few more stores?"
Biana didn't wait for an answer before dragging a reluctant Sophie to continue browsing the stores.
=========================================
After countless hours of begging (or so it felt like) Sophie convinced her friends to come with her to the Elvin dessert shop.
They all feasted on Mallowmelt, Butterbursts, and Ripplepuffs before heading home.
