Sophie POV
"Care to dance?"
Sophie briefly looked up from her food and saw the same guy from earlier who was staring at her. Her plan was to avoid the dancing and just chill near the food table, but obviously, that hadn't worked so well.
She was about to say no (she really didn't want to trip and ruin the ball) when Biana glared at Sophie over the mystery boys shoulder and gave her a look that said 'accept this dance or else'
Sophie internally sighed, and thought about it.
She looked up, and noticed the boy getting a little fidgety and nervous.
She really didn't to, but she reluctantly excepted the dance because she didn't want to hurt any feelings.
The mystery boy gracefully dragged her out onto the crystal dance floor. He was smiling like it was the best thing in his life, and Sophie couldn't help but notice how familiar he looked. But she couldn't pinpoint who he looked like.
Some people at the ball chose to disguise themselves a lot, so they wouldn't be recognized, while others didn't have a reason to hide so just wore a thin, flimsy mask and didn't change anything about their appearances with elixirs. Sophie figured she was closer to the, disguise-yourself-and-don't-be-recognized side of the scale. Apparently Biana had gotten her a mask that could hide her unique eye color, but Sophie was kind of skeptical.
She didn't realize the boy was waiting for her to put her arm on his shoulder before he quietly cleared his throat.
Sophie snapped out of her daydreaming and blushed a deep crimson red. The boy smirked.
Wait smirked?
No Sophie. Tons of boys smirk.
Sophie got in dance position and they started to dance around the room. Miraculously, Sophie did not trip and ruin the dance.
"I love your dress." the boy said.
Sophie blushed, yet again. "Thanks. The color reminded me of one of my best friends."
The boys eyebrows practically launched off his head.
"Wow," he breathed, "he must mean a lot to you."
"He does." Sophie said quietly.
The boy twirled Sophie, and it was somewhat graceful, until the last second when Sophie slipped and was about to crash into the floor when the boy caught her and made it looked like it was part of the dance.
Sophie smiled. "Thanks."
"Anytime." he joked. "Though I didn't expect you to fall for me so fast."
Sophie felt like a overheated tomato from all the blushing. "Um.. I didn't-
"Relax Foster, I was just -"
"Foster?" Sophie asked.
The boy blushed red and stiffened, but quickly answered, " Do you like the Fondiberries? Back at the foodtable?"
"Um...yes. They were delicious." Sophie replied, seeming to buy his (rather pathetic) excuse. "Do you like them?"
"Um, yeah sure." The boy grinned. "But do you want to join me for a walk around the property after this dance?"
Sophie smiled. "Sure."
Keefe POV
"Sure."
Keefe almost leaped for joy, but then thought better of it and smirked. He grabbed her hand and pulled her outside.
"So, are you looking forward to seeing anyone in particular at this ball?" Keefe asked, wiggling his eyebrows. Nice going Keefe, he thought. Now you seem nosy.
Sophie blushed. "Oh um..I was actually wanting to see one of my...friends."
"What's his name?" Keefe couldn't help but ask. Gosh Keefe, now you seem really nosy.
"Oh his name is, um, Keefe." she said, blushing.
Keefe smiled inwardly. Foster wanted to see me?
They continued walking. The full moon shone on Foster, in Keefe's opinion, making her look even more beautiful. They stopped near a small stream, and sat down under one of the trees.
"Are you having a good time?" Keefe asked.
"Yeah. It was funner than I expected." Sophie replied. "You?"
"Actually, I had a great time."
They sat in comfortable silence a moment longer, before Sophie got up.
"Where are you going?" Keefe asked.
"I was going to try to find that...friend." she replied.
"The one with those hot ice blue eyes?" Keefe teased.
Sophie narrowed her eyes. "Yeah, that one." She said, and started slowly walking away.
"Wait Foster!" Keefe shouted after her.
Sophie looked confused, then embarrassed, before she grinned.
"It was you the whole time?"
