AN: I'm sorry that everything was so sudden in the last chapter, but the romance has to get started at some point, and it was cringey.

///Tom's POV///
A few weeks had passed since the bodies of my parents were discovered.
I'm not exactly sure how I feel, on one hand, I feel fine and even happy that they got what they deserved, on the other, I could have reported for child abuse and gotten a restraining order.
Then law could have dealt with them.
But then I remember, I'm a blank, the law no longer helps me.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. Saying Emma and Micheal were my parents, the police questioned me.
They have no proof that I'm the murder, but they seem to want to use that I'm a blank to they're advantage.
"Do you know why they were Apartment 48?"
"No, I do not."
"Do you know if they had any mental disorders?"
I raised an eyebrow. The policewoman rolled her eyes.
"Sir, please just answer the question."
"I do know Emma had one," I said, leaning up against the door frame. "She had schizoaffective disorder."
The policewoman's pen was moving fast against her small white notebook.
"Did she every receive treatment?"I shook my head, "Not that I know of," I wondered if she had after they abandoned me. She seemed more in control when we saw her, not that it mattered. I didnt want to see her anyway.
"When was the last time you talked to them?" The policewoman asked, her pen hovering over the page.
"A full conversation? Or just...speaking?" I said, almost chuckling as I tried to remember the last time I had a full conversation with my parents.
She looked up at me, her hair in such a tight bun, it was pulling at her face.
"A full conversation," She said, as she looked at me with an "Are you stupid look."
I looked up slightly making looked like I was thinking, In reality, I was trying to waste the policewoman's time and patientence. No one gets to call me stupid anymore.
"With Micheal, I had a full conversation with him the day before they left, so...About three years," I said, before scratching the back of my neck.
"With Emma, I think it was when I was about...Eight." I said, and policewoman had an horrified expression on her face.
"When did you move out," She said, still writing down what I said before.
This time I didnt hold back my chuckle. I looked at her wit my eyebrow raised again, "Whose house?"
The policewoman still looked at me with a gocking look.
I rolled my eyes, " My legal guardian is Wilmer Wood. He adopted me when I was sixteen."
"And how old was he?"
"He was twenty-one." I said, still remembering how amazing it was that Wilmer balanced school, work, and me. Still doesnt mean I'm not pissed he told my parents.
"What were the circumstances of the adoption?"
I smiled and ran my tongue above my bottom lip, "I was abandoned, and I have no immediate family."
