"Relax, (Y/N)-san!" Tanjiro tried to comfort you as the two of you made way through a rice field. "I'm sure Tomioka-san has just been very busy lately and that he intends to write back."
The aching of your heart grew more and more as the days went by. No, as the months went by.
The last mission given to you had taken much longer than expected. What you thought to be a simple demon turned out to be a hibernating one. For 6 months, you waited and waited till activity was present. There were times where you had the chance to go back to the estate but Giyu was not there to greet you. Not once.
During your last trip to the estate, you were graced with 3 days of no missions. Just relaxation. Yet, during those times, not once did the person you were eager to meet open the gates to the estate. Each day, your shoulders would slump more and more at the sensation of having done something wrong. Leaving the estate with no other presence was a feeling you never thought you'd experience again.
Still, that didn't stop you. Each night, or every few nights, you would pen a letter and send it via raven.
Each letter you sent via Karasutori only returned to you without a reply. The raven was never able to locate the Water pillar, despite asking kakushi's. Deciding that everything was of no use, you asked your raven one last favor. And that was to deliver all the returned letters to your estate, by his room that way, he could read it in his spare time.
While waiting for the hibernating demon to awaken, you ended up taking side missions. Some of them, you took up with Rengoku. On rare instances, you were paired up with Sanemi. The last side mission you had was with Uzui. The man was indeed as flamboyant as he claimed to be. Shocked at the news that he had 3 wives was merely the tip of the iceberg with the former shinobi. Not that you bothered, he was handsome in his own flashy way.
On the 5th month, the demon was finally active once more. The fight between you and the demon lasted for no longer than 15 minutes. Anger and pain took over you as you sliced the head off the god damn demon. Hoping that the battle would leave you severely injured, you left with only 4 scratches that have now healed. Deep within, there was a thread of hope that perhaps a half and half haori would appear and offer support. That instance never happened.
The news came that Tanjiro had passed his selection. Elated at the news, you gathered your things and made your way to Urokodaki's shack. It hit you like a horse when you realized just how much time had passed. It also dawned to you how Giyu was now doing this on purpose. There was no way in hell that a person, let alone a hashira, could manage to avoid another hashira.
"I dunno Tanji. He's aloof as fu-- He's aloof but I highly doubt he would just block me out of his system." A curse almost slipped but you somehow managed to pull it back in. Though you knew Tanjiro didn't mind swearing, it just felt too lewd to have a foul mouth with the sunshine boy.
"Maybe he's just..." Tanjiro tried to think of a logical explanation but upon seeing the boy struggling with his thoughts, you pat him on the shoulder. This was your petty problem. Not his.
Before either of you two could speak up, a cry broke the air. A few feet away was a girl trying her best to step away from a blonde headed boy. Looking at each other, both of you neared the sight of the ruckus. A small sparrow flapped it's way to your fronts. Chirping away the explanation of the scene before you.
"Hey, Blondie..." You said as you neared the boy. "She doesn't look interested."
"And let her go! You're causing your sparrow a lotta stress!" Tanjiro said as he strode towards the two of you.
