Liam was woken up to his foot being shaken. He grabbed for his gun but stopped when he heard Arthur's voice. "Come on, it's time to go get John." Arthur whispered. Liam slid on his boots and climbed out of his tent. "This early?" Liam asked, rubbing his eyes. It was still dark out. Nobody else was up. "No, but we need to get out of here before Dutch gets up and wonders where we're headed." Arthur told him. They loaded their guns and grabbed any extra weaponry they'd need.
They climbed on their horses and rode off. "Arthur, folks seem worried." Liam said. "I know. Things ain't good right now. I don't even know what to think anymore." Arthur said as they rode. They rode slow to let the sun rise. It was just past dawn when they arrived. The sun was emerging in the sky. They got off of their horses and walked up to the dock. To their surprise, Abigail was there arguing with Sadie. "The thing is, Sadie, I really can't, I must come, he's my husband!" Abigail pleaded. Liam and Arthur started unloading their guns from their horses. "I know he's your husband, but it's gonna be, well it's gonna be violent." Sadie said, sitting and cleaning her gun. "I can handle myself just fine... I'm coming." Abigail insisted. "Like I said, ain't happening. You got a boy." Sadie told her.
Liam and Arthur walked up. "I insist!" Abigail argued. "Insist all you like, ain't happening. Arthur, tell her." Sadie said. "Tell her what?" Arthur asked. "She ain't coming with us to collect her husband." Sadie said sternly, standing up and holstering her gun. "Abigail, you ain't coming. That's the end of the matter." Arthur said as he, Liam and Sadie walked to the boat. "See? There you heard him. Now let's go." Sadie said. "But-" Abigail got out before Sadie cut her off. Liam and Arthur got in the boat. "But nothing, it'll be quicker and easier with just the three of us. Plus John will be calmer without worrying about you. Ain't complicated." Sadie said, jumping in the boat.
"Well, I ain't the crying sort, but, I'm real grateful." Abigail said. "Yeah, we know you are. We'll bring him back to ya." Sadie said as Arthur rowed out. "Thank you!" Abigail yelled as they rowed off. "Here, old man. Let me row." Liam joked as he grabbed the paddles. Arthur switched seats with him. "I don't see old fellas busting their comrades outta prison, kid." Arthur said. Liam laughed. "Alright, here's goes nothing. Place is surrounded by marshland, should hopefully give us a bit of cover to move in close enough to find a spot to look for John. This time of day, prisoners will probably be working the fields." Arthur said as Liam rowed them towards the penitentiary. "Then all we gotta do is take out all the guards and row our way outta there. Seems simple enough." Sadie said. "Here's hoping." Liam said. "Yep, how many times, Marston?" Arthur sighed.
After a bit of rowing, they made it to land. "Okay, bring us over." Sadie whispered to Liam. He and Arthur pulled the boat behind a bluff in the land. Bushes helped hide it too. "We good?" Sadie asked. "Yes." Liam responded. "Let's head for that watchtower." Sadie said. They followed Arthur across the marshland. "Stay low, there's a guard up there." Sadie reminded them. "I'll deal with him." Arthur said as they crept along the island. They came to the tower and Arthur climbed up. He killed the guard and told them to come up. Liam let Sadie go first and followed behind them.
"Grab that Rifle, see if you can't spot him." Sadie said. Arthur grabbed the rifle and looked. "I'm pretty sure that's John." Arthur said looking through the scope. "Take them out then." Sadie said. At her words, Arthur took out the two guards patrolling the chain gang. Sirens started wailing. "Shit, I don't think that was John." Liam said looking through his binoculars. "Let's go over there and see." Arthur said as they followed him down the ladder. He led them as the three crept along the island towards the prison. "I think one of them guards was still moving." Sadie said.
The prisoners ran past them. "Definitely wasn't John." Liam said. They ran up to where the two guards were. "Come on, let's keep moving." Sadie said as she ran up. "Where is he? Y'all see him?" Arthur asked. "No." Liam responded. Sadie approached a guard on the ground. She kicked away his gun and aimed her revolver at him. "You... mister. You know John Marston?" She asked. He was struggling to breathe. "He, he ain't working today." The guard told her. As Sadie stood and interrogated the guard, another snuck up on her. "Put the gun down, lady." The guard said, aiming his shotgun at her. Arthur snuck up behind him and put his revolver to the guard's back.
