At school, Sarah, Erica, and I try to enter our next class. We notice a woman writing odd symbols on a chalkboard. Erica knocks on the door and Ethan walks over to answer it. "Hey," Ethan greets. "What's going on in there?" Sarah asks with a confused expression. "Who's the fashion-fail in the muumuu?" Erica questions. "I know, right? Ms. Lucia is subbing for Mr. G. She's so nice," Ethan states with a smile. "Right. Anyway, do you still have any of those little wooden-stake darts?" Erica inquires. "You mean pencils? Yeah, why?" Ethan asks. "Some vampire jerk stood her up," I tell him. "She wants to make a point, but I-" Sarah gets interrupted by Ms. Lucia. "All warriors must get to work. The hour of judgment approaches," she demands. "Okay," Ethan responds with a grin. Then, he returns back to his seat.

"Uh, so where are the girl warriors?" Erica questions. "Banished. Maidens have no use but to serve their queen when the hour is at hand," Ms. Lucia replies coldly. She turns around and goes to the board to continue "Teaching." She leaves us in shock after that rude comment.

"Well, that was weird," Sarah comments. "Makes me want to turn that sub into a sandwich," Erica states in an annoyed tone. I shrug and Sarah and I walk off and follow her.

We run into Ethan and Benny in the halls. "You girls have any bloodstone?" He asks us. "It sounds vampirey!" He says. "All outta bloodstone. But I can make you bleed with a rock," Erica threatens, making me jab her in the elbow. "So your freaky sub gave you freaky homework? And you're not freaked?" I question. "Hot teacher-frozen brain. Done," Erica states. "My brain is not frozen, I just..." Ethan tries to say before Ms. Lucia walks by. "-have to find frog hearts. Yeah," he responds, changing the subject before leaving with Benny. "Am I nuts or did we just get blown off by nerds?" Erica asks in an irate manner. "Something messed up is going on," I conclude, making Sarah nod in agreement.

We walk into the same classroom we tried to get in before. We see Principal Hicks and Ms. Lucia in the room. "Um, why's she still here?" Sarah asks. "Don't tell me she's subbing for our class too," she complains. "She's not even all that hot," Erica remarks. Ms. Lucia turns to face us. "Okay, fine, she's a goddess. But I can still hate her," Erica comments. "Lucia is a queen; she is not a goddess," Principal Hicks says. "I told you maidens, go," Lucia demands in a harsh tone. "So you want us to skip class?" Sarah questions. "We have-" Sarah starts. Erica cuts her off: "Done and done," she says then leaves. "Principal Hicks. Are you sure you're cool with this?" Sarah inquires. "Lucia is my queen! I am her throne! Please be seated, my queen," Principal Hicks states. He goes onto the ground and goes on his hands and knees. "Excellent," Ms. Lucia says with a know-it-all smile. "Okay," Sarah states with confusion. I give a perplexed look before Sarah and I leave the classroom. Something fishy is definitely going on at this school.

Sarah, Erica, and I talk in the school hallway when suddenly chanting can be heard. "Masta toocha- Lucia da. Masta eecha Lucia na. Masta eecha Lucia na," they chant. I look up at my boyfriend with no shirt and a symbol of the sun is on his chest. They stand in front of Ms. Lucia. Then, she tells them to stop with a raise of her hand. "Praise the Sun King!" They cheer. "I am totally praising the Sun King!" Benny exclaims. "I praise him twice as hard as you!" Ethan argues. "The Sun King is pleased. He will soon return to us. You may cheer," Lucia commands. "Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!" They shout with happiness. "Soon the final ceremony will demand the ultimate sacrifice. Who among you is worthy to be my chosen one?" Lucia questions.

"Me!" The boys shout in unison. Then, they walk away and chant, leaving us in disbelief. "That Lucia thinks she's so hot, it makes my blood boil!" Erica angrily exclaims before getting burnt by the sun. She hisses in pain and grabs her arm. Sarah and I look at her in shock. "That's not the only thing that's boiling!" Sarah exclaims with worry. "Lucia's heating the whole world up," I point out. "The Sun is turning my skin into human fondue! If I find that Sun King, I am going to knock his teeth out," Erica threatens. "We need a plan and fast," Sarah says. "Think-what would Ethan and Benny do?" She asks. "No offense, but that's a really stupid idea," Erica comments. "You know saying 'no offense' doesn't make it less mean," Sarah says. "Why think like nerdlings when we can kick butt like vampires," Erica says before storming off. Sarah and I follow her.
