V. moonlit tears

a ghost called sadness
paid me a visit at night

I shouldn't have let him in
but he was already inside

I didn't dare to send him away
thus with me, he stayed

that night he reminded me
of all the things I'd rather forget

memories of loved ones
who never loved me once

crushed dreams from long ago
and broken promises slowly subside

my heart carries with her
a lifetime of ache inside

and the sadness still lingers
in the shivering air outside

it's been hours and I'm still here
soaked in moonlit tears

it's been days and I wonder
oh, when this will be over
