Life Goes On

Morning light broke over the moorings and into Lethias room. She wasn't so sore as she was stiff from a rough night. A pile of money was neatly stacked on the table beside the bed. She had been so busy she had not even had time to count it. She prayed that it was all there, they had yet to discuss repercussions of being shorted or jipped. The girl made her way to the shower her tail matted and her neck creaking and cracking as she walked.
The warm water felt a blessing as she stood beneath the shower head. The aches and pains ebbing away as her bodies natural healing began to speed up.

A towel was hanging next to the door when she got out. She had not heard anyone enter or leave while she was bathing, but she was certain that the Terry cloth had not been there prior.
Wrapping it around her body she walked back into her room. The money was still as it was but for what appeared to be an additional 6 gold pieces on top of the paper bills.
Lethia redressed and took her nights proceeds to the Madam. She would need to take her cut back today.

Damien kissed Lorelai 's forehead as he used her shower to clean up. He had heard her get up in the middle of the night, no doubt to do her rounds as she always did. He wanted to take her away, but he knew never to mention that to her. She was happy and safe where she was and he knew that, but he wanted to keep her to himself. He turned off the water and dressed himself as she slept. He laid the money on the dresser, knowing that one day he would have her, and not have to pay. He walked out of the room and down the hall.

He saw his crew and captain sprawled in random locations among the front room, girls on and around them. He rolled his eyes and woke them.

"Men, Captain, we have to be out on the seas by 0900!" They all scrambled to their feet and got ready as the girls groggily got to their feet. During the day, the bordello was closed, but the sailors were a special case. They all headed out towards the boat, and Damien looked back and saw Lorelai standing there in her human form in the hallway. He saw her eyes glassed over. Damien smiled sadly at her and she smiled back before she turned and headed back to her room. He laughed as he headed to the boat. He had always wondered what happened to that shirt.

Lorelai saw the new girl walking over to Mama and she looked clean again. She hoped she had found the towel.
She grabbed the cash from the night stand and then she grabbed up her laundry and went around knocking on the doors, gathering laundry as that was what she always did before breakfast. She was like mom in training. She paused at Mama, setting the laundry down and handed her the cash. She picked the pile back up and headed out the back door to start.

Madam Angela looked as though she had enjoyed herself last night, same as the girls. She took both Lethia and Lorelai's money and proceeded to count the total. Carefully she split and set aside the house profit from the girls. Once the money was split she handed Lethia her cut.
The girls eyes widened as she looked at the stack of bills in her hand. Never before had she been given such an amount. With the profit she made surely the home could provide food for the week.
Lethia all but groveled before Angela before hurrying out the door. The money she tucked safely away in her undergarments.
It seemed as if there were more patrols then normal for a weekday. The shiny badges and well used clubs were enough to make the girl rethink her route.
Her change of route slowed her down a hair but she was still able to make it to the home with her funds intact.
One of the sisters took her "donation" with a sad smile before shooing her along. She was to old to stay there now and had to continue on.

Lorelai took her cut and put it in her bra. She then was handed about a month's worth of grocery money and Mama looked at her with a knowing worry and Lorelai grinned. She put on a white dress, short sleeved and not too revealing, that hung just at her knees and black flats with a white bow. Her human form inside of it. She walked out with a smile to her housemates and headed into town. Those who saw her, knew who she was and what she was, and her regulars smiled and tipped their hats to her.
When she arrived at the market, she was stopped at the door by one of her regulars, Officer McNulty.
"Lorelai, as I live and breathe. Don't you look as pretty as a picture," he said as he walked up to her, the whiskey apparent and overpowering on his breathe. Lorelai smiled sweetly at him, her face never showing the disgust of his breathe affecting her, as her poker face was a strong one.

"Thank you Officer McNulty," she said softly blushing scarlet. He patted her bottom and she smiled shyly before entered and smirked. She was happy that this town was too poor to afford cameras.

After she was done shopping, she headed to checkout and realized why she was sent. Tasi was the cashier. She was a demon girl as well, but she believed that selling your body was beneath her. She made 2.80 an hour, as the owner of the grocery store was a regular of the bordello as well and he told them all so. She made a point to be as hateful as possible to all the girls, but as Lorelai was not as soft or sweet as them, she didn't play that nonsense.

"Oh, the Queen Whore has graced her with her presence. TO what do we owe the HONOR," Tasi said with obvious sarcasm. Lorelai's eyes flashed angrily.

"Do your job, Tasi. I am in no mood," she said evenly and Tasi mock curtsied to her.
"Oh yes, your MAJESTY," she said dramatically. Lorelai looked up at her and grinned, which caused true fear on Tasi's face. That was the grin that marked whoever recieved it for a painful lesson. The market was empty, as it was early in the morning and most had not made their way there yet.
