Setting Sail Again

Roman had missed the feel of her, he could not do what he wanted, what they both wanted, not in this setting. Instead, he ravaged her body in ways that made her call out his name, in a way she had only done once, the night before the attack on the city. Her cries echoed in his ears long after the throws of ecstacy left them both and her laid her on the bed, covering her spent body before cleaning up as best he could and going to find Darius. They hadn't spoken since they had all found Lethia.

Darius stood on the balcony overlooking the docks. Below their ships were being prepared to sail under his orders, they would be free of this blasted country before sunrise. His mind however still remained with Lethia, the look she had when she first saw him behind her. Relief? Shame? Fear? He could not put his finger on it but it shook him to his very core.

"Hey," Roman said walking up behind the taller man, leaning on the balcony railing looking down at the ship's, "who's leaving port?"

"We are." Darius replied his eyes still locked on the vessels. From his position he could see the twins overseeing preperations.

"After what happened with the king, I presuming ports miraculously opened again? Or did you throw your weight around?" Roman said trying to keep his tone light, even though there was nothing funny about what had happened. They had know each other long enough to know without knowing.

"The Queen saw to it." Darius voice remained even and low. He could smell Lorelai on Roman and it made him want to return to Lethia's room all the more.

"Shes always been a wise one, "Roman said his thought wandering to home, somewhere he had almost forgotten the sight of.

"We should leave soon. You and the girls will be on The Rose and I'll be overseeing The Vanguard."

"Why not take Lethia with you?" Roman asked looking over at Darius.

"I think it's best if I focus on the crew and ships for now." Darius responded evasively.

"You're hiding something," Roman said but knew better than to push further, "very well. She is going to take this wrong you know."

"There is no right way to take it." Darius responded almost coldly. His eyes flashed as he remembered the look on her face once more. It was a look he could not bare to see again. "Its.....its for the best. " He told his friend his voice dropping in defeat.

"She is going to feel as though she has upset you, you could tell her you aren't.  She is going to think that she means nothing but a bounty to return to the kingdom," Roman said looking gravely over at him. "Trust me Darius, I know what that life can do to someone's mind... when Lorelai entered she was not suppose to work... she was suppose to be protected... but the stubbornness in her, never taking charity... made her grow up to be one of the kindest, sweetest, most loyal girls...who happens to have a dark past.... Lethia, she was however severely mistreated...because I didn't have any idea where she was... and I couldnt shield her at least a little from the world...for that I am truly sorry. The bottom line is that Lorelai would understand, unless you explain... Lethia will not and if you want to marry her... you better make sure she does, my lord."

Darius cringed at his brothers warning.  To be honest he wasnt sure what to do with her. Roman was right of course atleast about the extreme stubbornness. He knew somewhat of her history having dove into his investigation once he met her. She had been raised by the church and when she had been to old to stay with them any longer she had entered the workforce in order to help support the children still in their care. That was the reason she had damn near got herself killed or slaved the last time. The thought however reminded him of her entertainment of the twins and the offer to do the same for the ship crew. Slowly the man's eyes began to tinge red as his jealousy began to surface once more. Darius could not stand the thought of Lethia's body pressed against anyone's except his, which of course he could not do because of her most recent stupidity. "Maybe. " He muttered.
