Professor Schuyler stretched out his arm and pounded on the door; the knock came quietly first and then, there was only silence. Aurora stood next to the professor who stared at the door, unmoving.
"Come in" The headmaster's calm voice emerged from the other side, granting them permission to enter.
Professor Schuyler's gaze shifted from the door to the newbie beside him. He could hear her frustrated breathing even miles away from there. He could sense all that tension surrounding her body; the undeniable tightness of her jaws and shoulders made being in the same space with her very awkward."Did you hear? You may enter now."
She frantically nodded her head in response; her mouth was dryer than a sandbox in summer, the knot in her throat grew exponentially against her will, her own belly became tight and her usual ready smile was afraid to decorate her face.
"Then, what you're waiting for?" He was frowning.
She wanted to do as she was told but, she was frightened. Something had to be wrong with her, otherwise, she wouldn't have been called to the headmaster's office on the very first day. Aurora gulped for breath, her hand inches away from reaching the doorknob. For a struggling moment, hesitation and doubt hovered over her mind like a black cloud in a stormy-day. In the end, her hand acted on its own accord, withdrawing its action.
Professor Schuyler let out a slow controlled breath and knelt down, so he would be in her line of sight."Do not be afraid," He said, his smoky voice swirling around her like a soothing snowy blanket."We are here to help you only."
With some effort, she finally managed to push a few words out of her mouth. "I... I know..."
"Are you doubting yourself or us?" His eyes were on her now, stripping away her armor, seeing right through her.
Her head dropped down as his question hit the right spot. Such a bittersweet sensation those words brought to her. The desire to prove herself to others was so immersive that, somehow failed to see that maybe she wasn't that qualified. Grasping much reflecting little. It was easy to fall victim to your own insecurities and vulnerabilities.
Sympathetic, he caringly patted her on the head."Have some trust in us. In yourself."
She smiled at his tender gesture and quickly remover her cloak from her body, twisting the doorknob in sequence.

Headmaster Randolph's eyes were absent, his gaze somewhere else but on the scattered papers. He was leaning forward onto his desk, hands neatly intertwined and supporting his chin. Soon, he motioned them to the vacant seats across from where he was sitting.
Aurora sat up straight in her chair, with crossed wrists resting on her lap and feet firmly planted on the floor. On the other hand, Professor Schuyler remained standing up next to her with a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
He turned to look her in the eyes with a very serious expression on his face as he spoke his next words."I was meaning for you to come to my office rather sooner as so to tell you I had found you a buddy." There was a brief pause in the conversation."But, I've been told about what happened. Professor Schuyler was cautious enough to inform me right away about your current situation."
